Believe it or not, I’ve held back for the first 40 years of my life on writing a book.
I felt that it wasn’t the right time, I didn’t know enough, I was too busy with my career– and sitting down to write a book would take agonizing months.
But then a mentor told me this….
Just write a BOOK, not THE book.
In other words, you don’t need to have your first book be the be all and end all of all books. Once you get your first book out, you’ll quickly discover that you have another book inside you.
And pretty soon, you’re like Warren Whitlock, who has a couple dozen books.
THE “SECRET” TO GETTING YOUR EBOOK DONE QUICKLY
You just speak it.
Write down 10 bullet points you can talk about for 5 minutes each. Then record a webinar, Zoom, Loom, Screen Recorder, Voice Memos, or whatever your favorite method is to capture video or audio.
I prefer video– even though I don’t like how I look– since then our VAs (virtual assistants) can chop up clips to run on social media. Even better if I’m interviewing an expert, since then we can clip their face talking on the Zoom call instead of showing mine.
Once I’ve recorded the video, which Zoom automatically saves to the cloud, I’m done.
The rest of the work is done by our virtual assistants, who transcribe it, format it into a book, add in relevant pictures/diagrams, and generally make it look pretty.
They even upload it here to free-ebooks.net, which is easy enough to do myself, but I’m lazy.
They’re following an exact process to manage our content, which we call the Content Factory. The VAs also manage their own teams, including the hiring process for VAs, which is a 100 page guide that we uploaded here on this site.
If we’re using VAs to write the content, might as well have VAs document the process to hire other VAs, right?
If hiring a full-time person to work for you for $500 a month is intimidating, then just hire someone on Fiverr for $50 for one project to test it out.
So I took some of the webinars I did this year and chose a dozen to turn into books:
And I’ve found that a lot of people don’t want to watch an hour-long video– they prefer reading. I’m in that same camp, too, since I find people speak too slow. I can skim ebooks for the parts I like and save a lot of time.
So publishing my books here on free-ebooks.net has let me reach a new audience with no extra effort on my part. And this is one of many ways to build your personal brand where the work is being done by someone else, since we’re all too busy.
I hope you discover how awesome this is, too.
