The 10 Most Popular Books of 2015

Magical Technology of e-BooksBook lovers had plenty to celebrate in 2015, because it was a banner year for best sellers and great reads in lots of different genres. E-books that made the list of top reads in 2015 included everything from children’s books to military histories and from gripping nonfiction stories to darkly mysterious fiction novels. In case you missed out on the pleasure of these books, here is list  of some of the most popular titles you may want to add to your current reading list.

  • The top three, published by Penguin Random House, are Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, by Laura Hillenbrand; Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty; and Gone Girl: A Novel, by Gillian Flynn.

  • The next top-ranked book, which also spawned a blockbuster Hollywood movie, was American Sniper, the autobiography of Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.

  • Next is the novel All the Light We Cannot See, by Anthony Doerr, followed by the adventurous memoir by Cheryl Strayed, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. That book also led to an award-winning movie that starred Reese Witherspoon.

The books Divergent, by Veronica Roth; The Maze Runner by James Dashner; and Dark Places: A Novel – another book penned by Gillian Flynn – help to round out the list of the Top 10 Best Sellers of 2015. Number 10 on this list – The Pact by Karina Halle – was, in fact, a self-published book. That was virtually never heard of in the days before e-book technology, but e-books are a simple, inexpensive, and direct way for both emerging and established authors to self-publish books that have the potential to sell millions of copies all around the world.

A Good Month for Book Bargains

The price of e-book best sellers appeared to drop off by about as much as 30% during the post-holiday sales period, too. Book sellers tend to jettison much of their inventory that’s left over from the holiday season during the first month or two of the new year, so if you act now you may be able to pick up many of the most popular e-books of 2015 at a substantial discount.

What is really fascinating to consider is that you can take all of the lists of 2015’s most popular titles and build a personal library out of e-book versions of each one, at a fraction of what it would cost to buy those books in print. Another phenomenal aspect of e-books is that they reduce the weight load in your backpack while simultaneously reducing your carbon footprint to help conserve natural resources like trees.

The Emergence of the Stick Library

Never before in history has it been possible to carry an entire library, with hundreds of volumes of books, right in the palm of your hand or your pocket. But that’s easy now, and highly affordable. The e-Go! Portable Library, which was created by Free-Ebooks.net, was one of the most remarkable e-book innovations of recent years, because it lets you store an entire library of e-books on a small USB stick. You can also purchase an Audio Library version, which contains about 2,000 hours of listening with some 550 classic titles read aloud to you. For kids, there is even a special children’s book version. For the price of a handful of printed books, in other words, you can acquire thousands of e-books that you can carry around in your pocket and share with anyone you want.
