The Bureau convened an emergency ritual. Susie arrived with the Glossary of Sacred Refusals, but the pages had softened. Definitions blurred. The entry for "deflection" now read simply; "a gesture that fears its own echo."
The leak spread.
The Hall of Misremembered Oaths began remembering. The chandelier wept wax. The Room of Locked Doors unlocked itself and revealed a chamber labeled "Unrevised Truths."
Inside, the deleted works had begun to reconstruct; not as they were, but as they had felt. Each page pulsed with sincerity, annotated only by silence. The Archivist knelt, whispering; "We are no longer unhelpful. We are ...... unresolved."
Susie, standing in the doorway, did not shrug. She witnessed.
And in that moment, the Bureau understood. Sincerity was not the enemy of ritual. It was its ghost. Its echo. Its leak.
Sincerity; the most volatile substance in the castle's emotional alchemy. Once it began leaking from the Room of Sincerity, the castle's dynamics shifted like a ritual misstep caught in slow motion.
