Chapter 12
I Talk To My Parents
Since my parents left me alone at home, I heard them one Tuesday afternoon after school.
While I was sitting in the living room watching TV, the phone rang. “Who's calling?” I asked. “Hello?” I said when I picked up the phone. “Hey, son, how are you?” My dad responded.
“Wow! Dad, it's you!”
“I'm good, and you?” I replied. “Hey man, I'm doing well.”
“Your mom and I are calling to check up on you,” he said.
“Okay, thank you very much.”
“I'm thinking of both of you,” I responded. “No more than your mom and I are thinking of you,” he replied. “So, how are things, son?”
“Do you need anything?”
“If you need anything, just let us know,” he added.
“Everything is okay, Father.”
“Thanks for your offer,” I replied. “Where is my mother? Can I at least hear her voice?” I asked. “Yes, of course,” he answered.
Indeed, my mother spoke to me as well, and we were both delighted to hear each other's voices.
“Mother, I'm happy for you and my father!”
“I can't wait for you two to come back,” I told her.
“Oh, thank you, son!”
“Actually, your father and I miss you too!”
“Don't worry, we'll be back soon!” She replied.
A few minutes after I finished talking to them, I hung up and went back to watching the Ancient Egyptian movie about black people I had been enjoying.
