Chapter 13
November 30TH
An annual celebration that is loved by all students in Nelusmaland is the “Christ Night Gala for Students” event.
Indeed! Christ Night Gala for
Students.
Each year, on December 5, schools across the Country host a Gala evening for students, but they must announce the date starting from November 30.
On that day, while I was seated on a bench in class, everyone in the classroom heard a knock at the door.
“Please, wait a minute!”
“I’m coming shortly!” My Teacher
responded.
Upon opening the door, a staff member entered with a poster that revealed the date for Christ Night Gala for Students on December 5.
“Hello?”
“Good morning?” The staff member greeted my Teacher.
“Good morning, sir!” My Teacher replied. “Could you assist me in distributing the poster that announces the date of Christ Night Gala for Students to every student?" The staff member requested. “Yes, certainly!” My Teacher answered. Immediately, my Teacher and the staff member proceeded to hand out the posters to each of us.
“Oh my God! Christ Night Gala for Students is approaching!” One student exclaimed loudly.
“Today marks the last day of school before the Christmas break!”
“Wow, this is fantastic!” Another student shouted.
The student was correct; November 30 is indeed the final day of classes for the Christmas break, after which students will return in January. “I’m going on a date!”
“I’m going on a date!” Another student announced loudly, causing laughter among the others.
“Be quiet!”
“Get a life!” Another student chimed in. It’s true; I observed the other students as if it were a movie, watching them engage in conversation and debate.
Then, my Teacher interjected, “Calm down, class!” and asked, “Did I overlook anyone?”, “If anyone hasn’t received a poster, please raise your hand.”
In response, the students remained silent, not raising their hands as we all had received one.
“Thank you very much!”
“Have a nice day!” The staff member said as he departed.
“You’re welcome! Have a nice day!” My Teacher replied.
Later, when school was released, while Xeyamia and I were on the bus heading home, I asked if she would like to be my date for Christ Night Gala for Students. “Xeyamia?” I called out to her. “Yes, Werley!” She answered. “Are you planning to attend Christ Night Gala for Students?” I asked her. “Absolutely! I'm going for sure!” She responded.
“This is a night I don't want to miss.” She added.
“I feel the same way,” I replied. “This is a night I won't miss either.”
“I just believe it will be enjoyable this year,” I mentioned.
“You're not lying,” she responded. “Alright, but there's another question I want to ask you,” I said. “Please, go ahead and ask me!” She encouraged me.
“You can ask me anything?” She added. “Would you be my date for Christ Night Gala for Students?” I asked her. “Oh my God! Really?” She exclaimed. “Are you serious?” She asked. “Absolutely! I'm completely serious!” I assured her.
“It's because I like you a lot, and we have a lot in common in terms of interests and qualities,” I explained. “Wow! You make me feel so special,” she said.
“Actually, I was hoping to find a date for Christ Night Gala for Students,” she admitted. “So, I'm really glad you asked me that,” she replied.
“Really?” I wondered. “So, what do you think?”
“Will you accept it?” I asked her. “Of course!”
“Yes?” She responded. “Yay! I'm so thrilled!” I exclaimed. “Wow! I will spend the rest of the day with a joyful heart,” I said, expressing my excitement.
“Thank you so much!” I added. “You're welcome!” She replied. “I like you too, so I really don't mind,” she said.
“I suppose I need to prepare some money to take care of you that night,” I told her. “Don't worry! You don't need to be wealthy to make a woman love you or to go out with her.”
“Just don't act with frequency or arrogance when you're with a woman.”
“Just be yourself, and I like you that way!” She replied.
Finally, the bus arrived at the bus stop a few minutes later, and we got off and continued walking towards our house. “Thank you, sir!” We thanked the bus driver.
“No problem.” The bus driver replied, and he closed the bus door.
