Chapter 7
The Only Day I Miss Class
The day I missed class was the third day of the Weekend, Wednesday morning.
After returning home late on Tuesday night, I entered my room and lay down on the bed.
On Wednesday morning, my sleep had betrayed me, and I woke up late.
While the mailman was delivering mail in my area, he arrived at my home and dropped the letters in front of the house. One of the letters landed on the doorbell, causing it to ring.
It was the doorbell that roused me from my slumber.
“Who could that be?”
“My parents are not home.”
“And I don't have any appointments,” I thought soon as I jumped out of bed and stretched.
So, I quickly got up and went downstairs to see who was at the door. “Alright, fine.”
“Whoever it is.”
“I'm coming!” I called out as I descended the stairs.
However, when I opened the front door, I found no one there. “No one is here.”
“So, who rang the bell?”
“This is odd!” I remarked while scanning the street.
Then, I felt something under my foot and realized I had stepped on something.
Sure enough, when I looked down, I saw it was a piece of mail.
“Oh!”
“A letter!”
“Who is it addressed to?” I wondered as I bent down to pick it up.
Since my parents were not around, I checked the envelope and went inside, closing the door behind me.
Inside, I called out, “Dad!”, “There's another letter for you!”. “Dad!”
“There's another letter for you!” I repeated as I placed the mail on the table and headed back upstairs to my room.
Indeed, I was feeling somewhat relaxed, unaware that I was late for class.
And it wasn't until I returned to my room and noticed my school bag that the realization hit me.
“Oh! No!”
“I'm late for class!”
“What was I thinking?” I exclaimed in surprise.
“I need to hurry and get ready for school.”
“It's already 9 AM,” I said again.
Without delay, I rushed to prepare for school.
By the time I completed my preparations, it was nearly 10 AM.
In a hurry, I rushed into the dining room, took some bread and cheese along with a bottle of milk, and headed outside.
“Delicious!”
“These are my favorites,” I exclaimed.
However, my gaze landed on a potato chip on the table, which I also grabbed before heading out to school. “Oh no! I'm running late!”
“I am so late for class this morning,” I said hurriedly as I exited the house and made my way to catch the bus.
Out of the blue, I reconsidered my decision since the bus failed to arrive. “You know what?” I stated, “Yeah! I changed my mind.”, because the bus never showed up.
It dawned on me that I was already late for class.
“It's already too late,” I remarked, “Let me head to the garage.”
So, I had no option but to take a detour and make my way to the garage.
As I walked towards the garage, I munched on some potato chips.
“That's why I adore potato chips!” I exclaimed, “Oh my God, they're so incredibly delicious!” I reiterated.
Fortunately, that Wednesday morning was the sole occasion I was absent from class, which meant I encountered no issues with the school office.
