Christmastime. One Tripadvisor reviewer called it a “great

tradition and well worth a visit during Advent.”

the next painting, the town hall is beautiful with intricate and

colorful artwork.”

“This is a must, especially at Christmas. The town itself is

quaint and enjoyable,” wrote another, while yet another added;

“Beautiful building in the center of Gengenbach that gives

character to this beautiful town. Even more beautiful at

Christmastime with colorful decorations.”

The town’s Christmas markets are a popular attraction.

In addition to its extravagant town hall, Gengenbach has plenty

of festive attractions. Its Christmas markets are a highlight,

with atmospheric lights, mulled wine and craft stalls lining the

cobblestone streets.

Visitors can marvel at historic buildings, timbered houses and

quaint squares.

The Marketplaz (marketplace) is usually where the magic of

Christmas takes place, and visitors can get their fill of local

cuisine from schnitzel to bratwurst.
