They carefully tiptoed to the water's edge. Suddenly, out popped
Freddy the frog! “Ribbit! What are you doing?” he asked, with a
big, silly grin.
“We're looking for my toy mouse!” Stevie said. “Have you seen
it?”
Freddy thought for a moment and then giggled. “I saw something
grey and fluffy! It jumped into the bushes!”
“Let's go!” said Stevie, his tail twitching with excitement.
They hurried to the bushes. “Can you see it?” asked Bella.
“I can't!” said Daisy. Just then, they heard a funny squeaky
sound!
“Is that it?” asked Stevie.
“Yes! Let's see!” said Bella.
They peeked through the leaves and saw a squirrel with Stevie's
toy mouse! The squirrel was nibbling on it!
“Excuse me, Mr. Squirrel!” called Stevie. “That's my toy mouse!”
The squirrel looked surprised. “Oh! I thought it was a snack!”
he said, giggling.
