51 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE
“Check out what’s going on in there private. Now!” Rance barked at him feeling the panic ebb.
The private nodded without a word and placed a hand on his kettle helm as he ran to the door back inside. As he reached out for the knob the door burst open with a flood of people charging, their faces streaked either with tears or ashes, some were stained with blood. The private took a step back and fell under the wave of humanity, orange light and smoke followed them.
One of the Marshals in a panic backed up unknowingly to the Wampus’ cage and the monster charged forward snatching his arm in its mouth just above the elbow. The soldier let out an inhuman scream as it bit down and his arm snapped like a stiff piece of wood, the Wampus began to shake the soldier who in a mindless pain filled panic grabbed the latch of the cage. He held on as the cat pulled but the blood loss drained him and as he collapsed onto the ground he still held the latch and pulled it down with him.
It wasn’t enough to unlock it completely, but the beastly cat was agitated and had fresh meat just inches beyond its reach. It gave the door two solid hits with its thick head and was free, leaping for a random person and began tearing them to pieces. People ran around, some in circles, others tried climbing the flat ten foot tall stone walls. A few got on their knees and prayed, Rance however rallied his men.
“Quit running around you cunts! Get in formation and ice this pussy!”
Most of the men heard him and gathered into a tight square of three rows with four men each, with the bottom row kneeling. They aimed their hand cannons, the abominable feline was parallel to them feeding on a club goer. The weapon could fire a fist sized bearing and be reloaded in thirty seconds if these men kept their nerves.
“On my mark...FIRE!”
Their cannons fired simultaneously with a powerful boom and blast of acrid smoke that sent up a screen making them blind. The soldiers were trained to reload by feel as well as sight and all of them had their arms reloaded quickly, but it was not necessary. The giant cat had fallen down through the smoke screen clearing the air for a moment and showing itself.
The upper torso and part of its head were torn open and bleeding, a chunk of its skull was missing and showed a cannon ball lodged deep inside its brain. The Marshals let out a cheer and raised their arms in a cry of victory, they’d slayed the beast and felt like kings. Even some of the club goers who’d been on their knees praying got up and cheered.
