52 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE

The joy and relief was great enough for them to not see the fire burning above had grown during the battle. They stood beside the building as its back wall became engulfed in fire oblivious, Rance felt to elated to see the danger until a woman out there with them let out a scream of terror. They all looked up as a large section of the wall above them, came tumbling down on them in a avalanche of burning wreckage.

Luke sat on sectional sofa of the office doing everything in his power not to piss his pants with Maureen sitting beside him. Not that she’d care, she wasn’t the type but that thought didn’t make him less afraid. He could smell the fire but told himself it was OK, there was still an army for her to get through and she couldn’t burn down the whole club. Could she?

“This place is gonna be ashes by morning, a fuckin car bomb. Can you fuckin believe it?” he said as Paradine followed behind.

Luke felt his stomach drop and the urge to cry come over him like a wave. He squeezed his eyes shut to fight the tears.

“Fairies are a dangerous bunch, what did you expect?” said the Chief Marshal.

Without listening Eric went to his executive desk and unlocked a side drawer and removed a three foot long knife with a white blade and a handle made of ivory.

“A blade made of dragon bone,” Eric said holding it. “it’ll cut that skanks wings off like butter. Follow me.”

Although Eric was talking to Paradine, he meant Luke too because Glitterbelle had his scent and would find him no matter where they went. They came through a door into a room where Paradine had three soldiers waiting, armed with tasers.

“Will three be enough?” asked Eric.

“We’ll find out.”

They came outside to a smoky sky stained in firelight. Eric growled as his speakeasy burned and glared at his brother and that chubby bitch. Seeing the murder in Eric’s eyes, Paradine eased him down.

“Wait until we plucked her wings, you kill him she’ll lose his scent.”
