49 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE

‘You came and turned and looked my way, What else can I say? Love was in my eyes’

The soldier felt his head spin and his heart race and bumped into another soldier. The fellow looked ready to throw a punch but saw it was a fellow soldier.

“Come on, buddy. Word is that bitch is coming through the back way, I just got the orders, we gotta get into positions.”

“Do you have a light?”

“Huh? Didn’t you hear me?”

“I need a light...then I’ll join you.”

“Oh, yeah I hear ya man. You look like you need a smoke but lay off the caffeine, in the mean time.” he said giving the soldier a pack of matches.

The soldier didn’t hear him and continued back the way he came and went down the steps passing the bouncer roughly.

“Hey watch it, sucker!”

But the soldier ignored him and went to his truck and drove down the far end of the main drag that led to Crow’s Nest. He parked it in the middle of the street, the few other auto carriages moving around honked what horns they may have had then just went around the truck as the street was very wide. The soldier took the five gallon can of gas filled to the top and splashed the back half of the large truck which had a canvas top and a frame made of wood.

The people walking around gave him curious looks as he splashed the foul smelling fuel everywhere.

Some even put a hand to their nose as they passed him but were oblivious until he got in the truck and the engine suddenly roared like a dragon. A few pedestrians stopped in their tracks to look at the truck whose wheels began to spin and smoke before it suddenly raced forward.
