CHAPTER SEVEN

THE ABOMINATION

OF DEPOPULATION

THOU SHALT NOT BE AFRAID FOR THE

TERROR BY NIGHT; NOR FOR THE

ARROW THAT FLIETH BY DAY, NOR FOR

THE PESTILENCE THAT WALKETH IN

DARKNESS; NOR THE DESTRUCTION

THAT WASTETH AT NOONDAY. Psalm 91

5-6.

In Psalm 91 the word “pestilence is mentioned 3 times.

Once in Verse 3. Once in Verse 8, and once in Verse 10.

The word for pestilence in these three verses is derived from the Hebrew word for “plague.” The fear of plagues should not be a factor in the lives of those who dwell in their “Secret Place” with Christ. If we are dwelling consistently in our Secret Place with Christ, there will be no place for fear to rule within our hearts. Fear is a distraction from God’s plan and purpose for

people’s lives if, and when, they fear. Those who fear are not rooted and grounded in the love of God.

DANIEL’S 70TH WEEK

AND AFTER THREE SCORE AND 2 WEEKS

SHALL MESSIAH BE CUT OFF, BUT NOT

FOR HIMSELF; AND THE PEOPLE OF THE

PRINCE THAT SHALL COME SHALL

DESTROY

THE

CITY

AND

THE

39

SANCTUARY; AND THE END SHALL BE

WITH A FLOOD, AND TO THE END OF THE

WAR DESOLATIONS ARE DETERMINED.

AND HE SHALL CONFIRM THE COVENENT

WITH MANY FOR ONE WEEK; AND IN THE

MIDST OF THE WEEK HE WILL CAUSE THE

SACRIFICE AND THE OBLATION TO

CEASE, AND FOR THE OVERSPREADING

OF ABOMINATIONS HE SHALL MAKE

IT

DESOLATE,

EVEN

UNTO

THE

CONSUMATION, AND THAT DETERMINED

SHALL BE POURED OUT ON THE

DESOLATE. Daniel 9:26-27.

The above scriptures are not a reference to the Antichrist during the end of the age but of the crucifixion of Christ and the events which took place after Daniel’s 69th week.

Jesus was crucified during Daniel’s 62nd week. The Temple was destroyed around eight weeks (56 years) later when the prophecy Jesus gave in Matthew 24:2 was fulfilled.

Daniel’s 70th week took place after the 69th week.

Numerically speaking 70 always come after 69. Daniel’s 70th week will not take place sometime in the near future during the tribulation period. It is ludicrous to think that God would give Daniel a period of 70 weeks and take the last week and move it forward around 2000 years.

Some apologists and Bible scholars believe in what I call the “gap theory.” The gap theory is a man-made doctrine that says that there is a 2000-year gap between 40

Daniel’s 69th week and the 70th week. This theory is

“weak” and there is no biblical proof that the gap theory is even possible. The gap theory is a man-made doctrine that cannot be proven because it is just “a theory” and has nothing to do with Bible prophecy.

In 70 AD, when Titus and his army laid siege to Jerusalem there was an “abomination of depopulation”

that took place. During the Passover Festival in 70 AD

the Roman Army laid siege to Jerusalem. The word

“depopulation” is another word for desolation.

I read that there were well over 1 million people in Jerusalem at the time due to a large attendance at the Passover Festival that year. I also read that around one million people were “slaughtered by the Romans and their Allies during and after the siege.

Regarding

the

Abomination

of

Desolation

(depopulation) the Bible tells us that “The “prince” that is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary.” (See Daniel 7:26).

Titus was a prince. He was the son of the Roman Emperor Vespasian. The Antichrist will be a world leader not a prince. Therefore, Daniel 7 :26 cannot be a reference to the Antichrist. Thus, the gap theory has been discredited and should not be taught and/or believed.

At the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week Titus entered into a 7-year non-aggression covenant with the Jews. In the middle of the seven-year period the Jews attacked one of Rome’s Allies. Titus then broke the covenant he made with the Jews led his army and his allies to 41

Jerusalem and laid siege to the City of Jerusalem. After a long protracted battle the Roman Army prevailed and destroyed the city of Jerusalem and the sanctuary. All of this is recorded in one of the Books of the Maccabees which was written by the Jewish historian Josephus.

Josephus was taken prisoner by the Roman Army during the fighting and witnessed the destruction of the City of Jerusalem, the Temple, and the “abomination of desolation” which took place there.

Josephus wrote that approximately 1 million people were slaughtered by the Roman Army and their Allies during and after the fighting.

The Lord had spoken to the Church at Jerusalem before the Roman Army arrived and warned them of the destruction that was coming. They moved to a place on the other side of the Jordan River called Pella and were saved from all the fighting and the death and destruction which took place in Jerusalem.

Many Christians and Jews believe that there will be another Temple built in Jerusalem. Plans have already been drawn up and the Jews have already started to

“rebuild” the new Temple. However, as far as temples are concerned this Temple will not be a true place of worship and service to God.

The Bible tells us that as Christians we are the Temple of God. Building another Temple in Jerusalem is not the plan of God but the plan of men. Animal sacrifices were just a type and shadow of the price the spotless Lamb of God would pay and the pain that He would endure at Calvary. Jesus already paid the price to free us from sin 42

in order to build “living temples” where sacrifices of praise and adoration are effectuated.

Titus caused the “oblation” and animal sacrifices to cease in the Temple in Jerusalem when he destroyed the Temple in 70 AD-the 70th week just as Daniel prophesied.

We are now the only Temples God cares for and dwells in.

Today God is searching for those who desire to worship Him in spirit and in truth within their “holy temples.” Those temples were not made by the hands of men. They were established through the blood which flowed from the nail prints in His hands, and feet, and the +blood which flowed red from the side of Christ as He hung upon the cross at Calvary. People become Temples of God through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross not by the works of their own hands.

God is not interested in the sacrifice of animals but the sacrifice of our will, our earthly desires, and self. With these things He is well pleased.
