This book was born from my attempts to explain to my wife what it is like to suffer from depression. She has tried hard to understand, but I find it impossible to explain. If you are a fellow sufferer, you'd understand. If you are a friend or a family member of someone who suffers from depression, perhaps this book can help. It is about the day to day struggle to hold down a job and to raise a family. My rags to riches career is in here too, but if you find it boring, skip it or speed read; I won’t be offended. Sufferer or concerned observer, I hope that it may bring a measure of peace.

Barry Daniels is a retired Civil Servant living in a converted Boatyard on Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. His modern-day fables (\'Aesop Updated\') draw on forty years of management experience. \'Beautiful Dreamer\' draws on Barry\'s lifelong interest in the nature and meaning of dreams. His recently published 'Standing In My Own Shadow' tells of Barry's lifelong struggle with depression.
