Part 2
One evening, just before bedtime, while Dad, Mom, and I were having dinner, my mother posed some questions to my father regarding what she had heard about the forest.
“Hun?”
“May I ask you something?” My mother asked my father. “Of course? Ask me?” My father responded. “What is it?” He added.
“Earlier today, while I was out for a walk, one of the traders mentioned that her husband nearly lost his life in the forest; something attacked him and others while they were cutting down trees.”
“Is that true?” My mother questioned my father.
“The forest?”
“Let me share what I know about it,” my father replied. “I was present during that incident, naturally.”
“Throughout my upbringing, prior to selecting my career, I often read in the newspapers about individuals disappearing or getting injured whenever they enter the forest to cut trees.”
“It appears there is something within the forest.”
“I cannot say what it is, but that is the reason most people tend to avoid it," my father concluded.
“Wow! What could that thing be?” My mother inquired once more. At that moment, I recognized an idea of what was going on, yet I chose to remain silent.
“Listen to me, baby! Please, always avoid the forest!”
“There are alternative paths, do you understand?” My father advised my mother.
“You too, Ley? Understand?” My father also advised me, but I was still quiet.
“One of the victims recounted that he heard a voice filled with laughter urging him to leave her forest,” my father remarked. “I am at a loss for words, but that is truly frightening.”
“Unfortunately!” My mother responded. We then resumed our dinner, even though I had a thought.
