Part 2
In the early hours of the morning, my father rose before anyone else to visit his friends who were at the hotel nearby, accompanied by their wives, which was just a short walk from my mother's parents' home.
However, he was mistaken in believing he was the first to wake; my mother's cousin was already in the kitchen, preparing breakfast. It appears my father had gotten up quite slowly, hoping that my mother wouldn't notice his departure, as he intended to prepare to go out. Then my father changed his mind.
So, a few minutes later, it was he who roused my mother by gently shaking her to inform her of his impending departure. “Get up, honey!” He urged, shaking her again, to prompt her to get ready after he had finished preparing himself.
My mother awoke, puzzled by the sudden disturbance. “What? What happened?” She inquired, stretching in bed. “Good morning, baby!”
“It's time to rise.”
“Don't you know what time it is?” My father responded, planting a kiss on her lips.
“Is it morning already?” My mother asked in surprise. “Yes, indeed! Get up!” He insisted. “But how are you? Are you feeling alright?” He asked with concern. “I'm fine, and you?” My mother replied. “I'm good, thanks.”
“Listen, I'm heading out.” My father announced. “Where are you off to so early?” My mother questioned. “To meet my crew and their wives.”
“You know I can't leave them alone, right?”
“So, I plan to spend some time with them, okay?” My father explained. “Alright, but please be careful!” My mother cautioned him. “Thank you very much!” He replied. Shortly after their exchange, my father exited the room. “Don't forget to close the door!” My mother reminded him. “Okay, baby.” He assured her as he closed the door behind him, making his way downstairs to head out onto the street.
“Bye! See you later!” My mother told him. “See you later! Bye!” My father replied to her. As my father descended the stairs, he came to the realization that he was mistaken in believing he was the first one awake in the house. How did he come to this conclusion?
While making his way down, he heard someone busy in the kitchen preparing food.
“Really?”
“So early in the morning?”
“Who is that down there?” My father wondered. Then, he caught a whiff of a delicious meal being cooked.
“Is it my Janie's mother or her cousin?” He pondered again. Without a moment's delay, as he neared the bottom and was about to peek, my mother's cousin greeted him. Indeed!
It was my mother's cousin!
“Good morning, Mr. Legrand!”
“Where are you off to this early?”
“Would you like something to eat or drink?” My mother's cousin inquired.
“Hi! Good morning!”
“Absolutely! Why not?” My father responded. “Please hurry!”
“I'll be out as soon as I can!”
“Do you understand?” My father added it. “Please, have a seat at the table!” My mother's cousin insisted on it. “Of course! Thank you!” My father agreed and took a seat. At that moment, my mother's cousin brought out breakfast for him. “Your breakfast is ready! Please, enjoy!” She said as she served him food and drink.
“Alright.”
“Thank you very much.” My father replied to her. “You're welcome!” My mother's cousin responded.
My father ate and drank before heading out onto the street towards the hotel.
And a few minutes later, my father was observed strolling down the street towards the hotel.
He successfully reached the hotel, where he spent his day before eventually returning to my parents' home later.
