Part 13

An emotional incident occurred during dinner with my father, mother, grandmother, and my mother's cousin. Before they finished their meal, my mother asked about my grandfather. “Mother!” My mother called out. “Yes, sweetheart!” My grandmother responded. “Where is my father?” My mother asked her. “Your father is old! He's sleeping!” Here came a reply from my silly father.

“Where else could he be at this hour?” My father interjected my mother. “None of your business!”

“Be quiet! Let her respond!” My mother retorted my father. “She's right!”

“Let her respond!” Said my mother's cousin. “Mother! Why aren't you answering?” My mother pressed. “Where is my father?” She continued. “I haven't seen him since I arrived here.”

“Is he alright?” My mother asked her mother again. However, my grandmother remained silent, stopping her meal and placing her hand on her face to express her emotions. “Is she alright?” My father questioned my mother's cousin. “I don't know what happened, but I believe she's okay,” my mother's cousin replied.

“Mother! Are you okay?” My mother asked my grandmother. “I'm fine! Thank you!” My grandmother answered, rising from the table to head to her room for some rest.

“I'm simply feeling fatigued and I require some rest,” she explained to them.

“There is no issue.”

“As it beneficial for you to take a break, I suggest you consider going to bed.”

“It is already somewhat late,” my father replied and stood up from his seat to assist my grandmother in rising from her seat so she could go rest.

Immediately, my grandmother stood up and left the table. “Thank you! I've finished dinner!”

“I'm going to my room to sleep!” My grandmother announced it. “Good night, everyone!” She said as she departed. “Good night, dear!”

“Thank you for dinner; your food was delicious!” My father responded. Shortly after my grandmother retired to her room to rest and sleep, my mother's cousin remarked, “I apologize, everyone, but I believe she was likely quite tired or unwell, considering her age; we should have anticipated this.”

Part 14

Moments later, my mother dashed upstairs to her parents' room, shouting, “Dad, I'm coming!” As she ran up the stairs, she repeated, “Dad, I'm coming!” Upon reaching the room, she found only my grandmother there. “Mother! You're here alone!” She exclaimed. “Why? Where is my father?” My mother asked my grandmother. “Come take a seat on the bed! I need to tell you something,” my grandmother replied.

So, my mother promptly sat on the edge of the bed beside my grandmother.

“Listen to me, sweetheart!”

“Your father has passed away!” My grandmother revealed to my mother, filled with emotion.

“What? Are you serious?” My mother responded. “You know your father loved you, right?” My grandmother remarked. “I know!” My mother answered. “Your father asked us for you before he passed away,” my grandmother informed my mother.

“He was ill and succumbed to a heart attack,” my grandmother explained.

“Oh my God! I'm late!”

“It's entirely my fault,” my mother replied with a heart filled with sadness and pain.

“You may be late, but it is not your fault that your father passed away!”

“But darling, is that truly you?” My grandmother inquired. “Yes, it is me!” My mother confirmed. “Oh, sweetheart! Welcome back!” My grandmother exclaimed, embracing my mother.

Later, my mother's cousin guided my father and mother to their rooms before everyone else went to sleep.
