Part 7
As my parents continued their conversation, it appeared that I had also crossed my father's thoughts.
“Hun?” My father said.
“Yes, baby!” My mother answered. “Our son, you know?”
“What about our son?” He asked. “Our son, Ley?”
“I believe he's fine!” My mother responded. Yes! It was as if my mother were aware.
There was certainly no question that I was doing well, even without them.
Throughout the morning, I enjoyed my time alone, indulging in eating, drinking, drawing, and engaging in various activities. “Are you certain about that?” My father questioned her. “How old is our son?”
“Of course! He's fine!”
“Additionally, we know his whereabouts.”
“That's why I don't anticipate anything negative happening to him,” she replied.
“Alright.”
“Alright.” He exclaimed.
“I asked him if he would be joining us, and he mentioned another time.”
“Perhaps he has a valid reason for not coming,” she suggested. “This is absurd?”
“But let's hope we don't return to find the house in chaos?” He responded.
“Evidently, we left the house in good condition!”
“And we hope to find him safe and sound.” "Okay.” She agreed.
“Alright!” He replied and smiled.
Part 8
A few days later, before my father and mother even set foot in Jamaica, an incident took place. While my father was seated at a desk in his private accommodation room and my mother was asleep, one of his crew members burst through the door, drenched in sweat and visibly fatigued, to inform him that the ship was experiencing significant waves and turbulence. “Captain Legrand!”
“We are in a situation!” The crew member exclaimed. “What is it?” My father responded. “What’s wrong?” My father asked him. “Sir, our ship is in jeopardy!” The crew member replied.
“What type of problem?” My father asked him another time. “Sir, we are encountering large waves and turbulence that are endangering the ship,” the crew member explained. Without hesitation, my father and the crew rushed out of the room to assist their fellow crew members in managing the crisis. “Listen up, guys!”
“We are all aware of our responsibilities, right?”
“We know what to do, understood?” My father instructed the crew who were contending with the massive waves and turbulence shaking the vessel.
Meanwhile, my mother remained asleep, while the wives of the other crew members were gathered in a separate crew room.
In fact, two crew members were positioned high on the ship's mast, directing others below who were securing loose ropes. “We’re on it!”
“Ensure there are no loose ropes, okay?”
“We’ve handled this before, and we can do it again!”
“This is just another challenge!” One crew member on the mast shouted. Immediately, my father was in the Captain's quarters, maneuvering the ship's wheel to navigate around the towering Ocean waves and turbulence.
Indeed, after some time, the ship finally departed from the Region of turbulent Ocean waves and perilous conditions, steering towards a different course.
“Sir, we did it!”
“Our results are positive, Captain!” A crew member approached my father, who was in the helm.
“Thank you, sir!” The crew expressed once more, conveying their joy. “Alright! Glory to God!” My father responded. Indeed! The events that unfolded were incredibly frightening; my father and his crew were engaged in conversation, perspiring, and utterly fatigued, facing significant challenges before they could successfully rescue the ship from the massive waves and turbulence that posed a risk of capsizing it.
“I’m pleased we accomplished it once again, as always.” Some of the crew explained.
After that, both my father and the crew exited the room, ascended the steps, and went up to join the other crew members gathered near the mast area.
“We did it again!”
“Haha! Let’s celebrate!” My father announced loudly to everyone. Shortly after, to celebrate their victory once more, they opened some beer and champagne barrels at a store to indulge in drinking. When it comes to consuming a significant amount of beer and champagne, my father and his team were certainly not naive. Naturally, I am convinced that if law enforcement were to organize a DUI competition, they would surely emerge as champions. “We’re not alone, guys!”
“Our God is an awesome! He’s always with us!” My father told his crew once more.
“Thank you, sir!” The crew replied. Given the significant danger they had encountered, there was ample reason to celebrate their successful escape.
Part 9
A few days later, when my father and mother finally arrived in Kingston, it was nighttime.
Well, that evening, nearly everyone was already gearing up for the Carnival season that was set to begin the following day. So, my dad, my mom, my dad's crew, and their wives arrived at the Port of TonTon, but my mom's family was not there to greet them, as they were unaware of their arrival.
Consequently, my parents and their companions had no choice but to arrange transportation to take them to a hotel located close to my grandparents' home.
“Hun?”
“We're in Kingston!”
“Welcome back to Kingston!” My father exclaimed to my mom as they arrived and began unloading their luggage. “Oh my God!”
“You are right Baby! I’m in Kingston!” My mother responded. “OMG! I'm back!”
“I'm back in Jamaica!”
“Oh Kingston! My beautiful city!”
“Thank you, baby!” My mother responded, filled with joy. “Alright, we are ready to go now.” One of my father's crew members called out loud to everyone.
“Okay, let's go.” Echoed the other crew members.
Then a few minutes after disembarking from the ship, they arranged transportation to a hotel near my mother's parents' residence. “Okay, but where are we headed?” My mother asked my father. “We should take a ride, okay?” he suggested. “You and I can go to your parents' house, but what about the others with us?”
“Don't you think they should go to the hotel?” He asked her. “You're right!”
“I agreed!” She acknowledged.
Part 10
My father then informed his crew and their wives that they would be heading to a hotel near my mother's parents' house. “Listen everyone! We're going to a hotel, alright?” He told his crew and their wives.
“I know a hotel close to my wife's parents' house, is that okay with everyone?” He asked his crew and their wives. “Alright, no problem.” They responded. “That's fine with us!” said my father's crew and their wives. “Alright, good to hear!”
“Let's go!" My father reiterated.
Indeed, they took a ride and headed to a hotel near my mother's parents' house.
As they traveled along the road, they took in the sights of the city, enjoyed the soothing sounds of reggae and various other Jamaican music genres, and inhaled the enticing aroma of grilled meat and barbecue. “I can't wait to enjoy some delicious barbecue,” my father remarked, prompting laughter from everyone.
