Later, as I lay in bed, my parents watched over me. Well, I observed two individuals—the very same ones who held me during my arrival into this World—gazing at me as I rested in the crib, and they were also caressing about me. But my curiosity and innocence at that moment stemmed from my uncertainty about whether they were my parents, though it wasn't a matter of great importance—something I would find years later. “Hun? He’s so adorable!” My mother remarked. “I believe our son has your eyes,” she told my father while they both gazed at me.
“And he has your skin color,” my father replied with a smile. It was true; my father was white, and my mother was black. “Welcome home, little buddy!” My father told me again. Inside, I felt immense joy at seeing them; I looked at them with a desire to embrace life.
“Good night, Ley!” Both of my parents told me before everyone slept late that night.
