Part 5

After some time, my mother resurfaced to be reunited with her family and friends.

Well, while my mother was in her room, she dedicated a considerable amount of time to searching for the shoe she needed before eventually locating it.

“Where are my shoes?” She asked herself. Naturally, she continued her search until she found it. “Oh! I found one!”

“I finally found my shoes!”

“Ay! I need to hurry back to my family and friends,” she said as she located a shoe to wear.

Unbeknownst to my mother, my father had not left; he was still outside, waiting for her to come out so they could continue their conversation. “Where is she?”

“Am I certain she will return outside?”

“Why hasn't she come out yet?” My father pondered while he waited for a few minutes.

Finally, my mother appeared a short while later. “You're still here.”

“But why?”

“Why didn't you go find your friends?” She told him and asked. “Why would I leave a beautiful woman like you alone?”

“I apologize, but I was acting in your best interest,” he replied. “I was ensuring that no one would come and abduct you.” He explained. “Alright, but what else do you want?” She asked him. “We made a deal!”

“I told you my name, right?” She spoke. “Yes! But may I accompany you?”

“Keep you company, you know?”

“Is that acceptable to you?” He responded and asked her to be her companion.

“You don't even know where I'm headed.”

“Do you know where I am going?”

“Can you stop following me now?” She said and urged her. Of course! It was true that my father always trailed my mother as she made her way back to her family and friends, where she was dancing in front of the crowd.

“I'm an Explorer and Navigator; my crew and I came to Jamaica for the Carnival and other events,” my father explained as he followed her. “But Do I regret coming to Jamaica?”

“Did I?” He asked her.

“Who care?”

“I don’t know.” She responded. “No! I did not regret it!”

“Because I believe I've discovered a treasure that means a lot to me,” he told her.

“Really?”

“Huh?”

“You're an Explorer?”

“And a Navigator too? She responded. “That’s correct!”

“But can I express that I would really like us to be friends?” He spoke and demanded friendship.

“What kind of friend?” She asked him.

“I'm pretty sure there are various types of friends, right?” She also told him.

“Like beginner friends?”

“What do you think, Hun?”

“Can we be friends?” He asked her. “Do not call me Hun!”

“We can be friends but with conditions, okay?” She replied. “Yes! I’m happy!” He said and jumped to show his happiness. “But what conditions?” He then asked her and wondered. “Wait until I get to my family and friends”, she replied.

With confidence, my father accompanied my mother on the road once more until they arrived where they were seated, enjoying the magnificent Carnival festivities.
