At King Winfred’s castle…..

Detective Liam Niles, upon entrance, waited for the king in the foyer, instantly turned to his presence as the king goes to him.

King Winfred entering with his quick salutations. “Detective Niles. You have come to question me?”

Liam, stood in reverence. “Yes King Winfred, I have. I assure it will not take long, with your cooperation.”

The king raised his brow in question. “With my cooperation. Sounds superficial. But nevertheless, proceed.”

Liam continued. “King Winfred. Forgive my forwardness. But you seem to place great emphasis of who will lead this new kingdom not yet with name, but I question, what is your real intentions of this new kingdom?”

King Winfred, taking his steps toward into another room, as Liam followed him into the great hall. The king, when approaching a small table, taking a chalice in hand then taking the ice cold red wine bottle from the ice bucket, pulling the cork off, poured the red liquid into the chalice, handing it to Liam, then placing the cork back onto the bottle, returning it into the bucket. ”What is it that you want to know?” Taking a second chalice, he picked up another bottle from the same ice bucket, pulled the cork, repeated to pour into his own chalice, replaced the cork, placing the bottle back into the bucket, then turned to him with a sip of his drink.

Liam, with social sip of his drink, he continued. “ My duty is to my noble lady and wife. To ensure of the placement is kept in check of who will lead in rank.” He sipped more of his wine.

The king, in reasonable stance of understanding. “I do understand your stance on this issue. And I assure of her remaining status as Lady of the new kingdom. And you as her husband and Knight in armor to remain intact with full authority. But the remaining question. Where does this place me into the ranking, yes?” Indulging more of his wine.

Liam, taking in more of his drink. “Yes. That is hitting directly upon the target of this discussion. And hopefully without any chance of beguiling schemes.”

The king chuckled. “Detective Niles. You certainly know how to hit in the center of the target with your assuming questions of my trust. Alright then. Here is my answer. My role will simply be like a proxy between us in leadership. Me, in my kingship, next to Lady Tauna on our thrones. And if any decisions she can not make beyond her control in her jurisdiction to make the final call and you are not able to carry it out with your duty, that’s where I come in to make the final choice. After all it’s for the good of many. Don’t you agree?”

Liam, cautious. “Now why would Tauna or I somehow not be able to make final choice? And from what standpoint?”

The king in confidence. “Detective Niles. I assure you. It’s just for precautionary policy of my kingly rules.”

Liam reshift his position. “I’d like to have a small change of claimant to those rules. That if something happens to me, that for whatever decision to be made, to give that authority to my brother as he sees fit. As a back up subservience to the Chivalry Chapel.”

The King taken aback. “Oh really Niles. I see no need for that to take place. But since in my fairness I will do that for you.”

Liam, satisfied. “Right. I will inform Pastor Connor of our concluding agreement. We will prepare for the meeting. “

The King grips his glass, “Splendid.” Gulps the rest of his wine in plain faced expression.

Liam, in same manner, as he takes the last gulp of his wine, places his chalice down onto the table, leaves the room.
