15. OPEN YOUR MIND TO POSITIVITY
A closed mind gathers no insight or growth. People who refuse to look past the beliefs planted in their minds as children will leave this lifetime with a wasteland of missed opportunities behind them.
The power of modern communication gives everyone with access to the internet an instant platform to share their worries and negativity with countless others. There is a reason that "CNN" is known in the personal development world as "Constantly Negative News."
In the future, hopefully not too many generations hence, there will be more balance in what is called "news" and topics will be presented with possible solutions offered at the same time.
No more browbeating the populace with one disaster after another in exhaustive detail, while 99% of the rest of life is actually running along pretty well. Seriously, how many times today did you get confronted by an armed terrorist? And yet, if you watch the news or, worse, are a news junkie and have it on all the time as a background to your life, you have affirmed thousands of times a day that you believe in fear, terrorism and hatred.
Those beliefs don't sit on the surface of your life like a harmless hat you can toss on a chair. Fear walks right in and sits down and gets cozy in the driver's seat of your life.
Every result we have in our individual lives is something that "driver" (our subconscious mind) has brought us to.
Affirm now: I attract only good into my life.
That affirmation will help change over the belief that your "driver" holds, and you will magically find yourself missing accidents that happen to others, walking out the door in time to see a rainbow, turning a corner to meet an old friend or to give a stranger much-needed directions.
Your life will become more joyful. It's all a matter of shifting those negative beliefs into empowering ones.
Yes, there's far too much negativity in our society, but we aren't powerless. We can change that, if we want to, and if we are willing to access the power of our thoughts to create something good on purpose.
Let's be more deliberate about setting our goals and imagining them into manifestation.
A quick way to get more in tune with positive thinking is to invite inspiration to come into your life every day. If you've gotten stuck and feel overwhelmed with bad feelings about yourself and loss of hope in the future, you will probably need to practice this many times, rather than making a one-off wish.
The reason affirmations "don't work" isn't because they aren't positive enough. It's that we say them on the surface, like paddling around on a boat, while underneath, that deep current pushing us down the river is our thought system or paradigm: all those hidden beliefs about ourselves and what we can achieve.
To change our beliefs to be more positive and creative, it's necessary to retrain our thinking, notice how we feel, keep up the self-chat with good affirmations.
You might be surprised to realize that all the things we say to ourselves, and others, are "affirming" something that is either in support of our dreams or working against them.
Affirm: I now open to the delightful world of inspiration. Wonderful ideas come to me on a regular basis.
Inspiration comes to us in a flash. The nature of the idea is in congruence with the habitual thoughts we think. Therefore, inspiration to a man like Trump would be the idea: I want to be ruler of the world and take whatever I want! Inspiration to me, since I write personal development books and constantly think about ways to express my understanding of the mental laws so that others can access and use them more readily, was: I want to write a book that will uplift millions of people and show them how, together, we can be the new breed of freedom fighters and create more good in the world!
What flash did you have when you woke up this morning? We all wake up with an idea in the forefront of our thoughts, but unless we give ourselves the bedtime command for greater good in our lives and the lives of others, that thought might be along the lines of a groan that it's another day and how boring that is.
If you are bored with life, apathetic about your future, it merely means that you have been using the laws of the mind to attract boredom and failure into your life.
In my law of attraction book You Were Born to Triumph: Activate Your
Magnificence, I get into this topic more, and teach how to keep T.A.B.S. on your mind retraining – T.A.B.S. stands for "Tell a Better Story." It's a reminder to watch what you are saying about yourself in conversation with others, under your breath when you're annoyed with yourself, and in your head while you're doing ordinary things. That inner dialogue between you the personality and You the higher self is generally one-sided. We've learned so well how to put ourselves down that our higher soul can't get a word in edgewise.
In effect, we've all been brainwashed to belittle ourselves and imagine that we aren't entitled to our big dreams. We set goals that look reasonable enough to achieve and reset them as needed to lower the bar instead of raising it.
All it takes to get one good idea to improve your life is to open to changing your thought habits. When we start thinking better thoughts and telling a better story about our own lives and the wellbeing of our country and our world, then the quality of ideas gets better and better.
