7. GO BOLDLY WHERE YOU HAVE NOT GONE BEFORE

Where haven't you gone yet? Do you have a wish list or bucket list? And if you don't, why not? Even if the list isn't written in a journal, I bet you could sit down and write at least ten places you want to visit or events you want to attend or restaurants where you want to dine. Now start adding material things such as that new TV you've had your eye, a new car, new furniture, and the list quickly expands.

But what about the non-tangible places you haven't been to yet, or that you have visited briefly and would like to enjoy again? I'm talking about peace of mind, serenity, and a sense that "all is well" in your world.

Unless we deliberately seek out ways to invite calmness into our daily lives, it is pushed away by our frantic busy-ness, as if there's a magical day on the horizon where we'll finally have time to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Take time now to delve into that kingdom of joy where you have not gone before, and start exploring ways to seek out those new ideas, those new friendships, those new dreams to build for you, your family, and to improve the world.

If you're feeling nervous about being an adventurer, a quick way to calm your emotions is to relax your shoulders, breathe slowly in through your nose to the easy silent count of 1-2-3, pause briefly, and then exhale slowly to the silent count of 3-2-1.

Repeat this "mindful breathing" exercise several times until you feel the tension leave your muscles and your body is more at ease. We hold a lot of tension in our neck and shoulders, so do a few shoulder shrugs and head rolls to ease that area of your body. Use the mindful breathing like a relaxation mini-break throughout the day, or any time you are feeling stressed or upset.

When we are tense with worry or fear, we actually invite dis-ease and bad experiences to come into our lives.

It's vital to learn how to calm yourself and stop reacting to everything others are doing that are not in alignment with the greater good.
