The men now get it
It has now been a few weeks since the addition of the men to Samuels compound. The obvious first parings have emerged.
Of course there are the first, Chris and Marsha. She has been asked to wait on looking for other wives but she knows that most likely her youngest sisters will be wives in training to either her husband or Steven since they are both sixteen.
The daughters all can see, even if the males do not see, which will become first wives. Now it is gravity that is pulling the rest towards the sister that will become the first wife. This must be said that it is not uncommon to have an older female to approach a younger first and ask to be let in as a subordinate wife.
Each can see the trait that they admire and that will support the family. They see their father and mothers. The dynamics are obvious.
Samuel is a wizard, Mother Atasha, a rabbit folk, is smart. Able to think and act fast. She is almost as magically talented as Samuel. That is why she is first wife.
Ginger, a felid, his second wife. A scout and gorilla fighter. Ambush, doesn’t fight. She just makes an opponent dead before they know it.
Then there is Katrina, a canid, his third wife.. She is a pack fighter. Can pick up scents better than the others. This is an asset because they cannot be ambushed. They can plan. She will sink her teeth into an opponent and just kill.
Judith, a bearkin, his fourth wife. She is a tank. That is all you need to know. She is an impossible foe to face. Aggressive to the max when defending her own. Thick skinned, teeth and claws. That roar of hers has been known to cause an opponent to lose total control of bodily functions and cause that one to flee.
Tasha, faunfolk, his fifth wife. Caution is her life. She is the tie that binds. She always is totally aware of her surroundings. She can fight like the rest but she is best at observing a battle then yelling out directions based on her observations. She is also the healer of the wives.
These five are the examples that the first wives will use in their choices. Who will round out their families defense. Also, like their mothers, who will follow the first but will challenge the husband when needed. They all have that one female talent that can decalcify a males bones. The cross armed stare.
Samual and the mothers are now seeing the dynamics forming.
It turns out that the first days battle pairing is the first bonds.
Peter nineteen and Rose eighteen, Atasha’s oldest. Ken nineteen and Sally seventeen, Ginger’s oldest daughter.
Thomas eighteen and Ruth sixteen, Ginger’s second daughter. Charles sixteen and Colline eighteen, Katrina’s oldest daughter. Steven seventeen and Corra eighteen,
Finally Robert eighteen and Josie eighteen, Katrina’s second daughter.
All the other daughters know that they will be wives but at least five of them are under fourteen and will be wives in training. Those are mostly the daughters from the last two wives of Samual.
Now Mary is casually talking to Samuel. Asking about this or that. Always getting closer into personal space. Every so often brushing against him. The bigger thing is that he is deliberately touching back. His wives now feel that this has gone on enough.
When getting ready for battle, the first thing is to come up with a plan. Those women had one.
With deliberate timing on the female side and after a few days of Mary’s getting closer, it was time. The wives of Samuel came over to the two. Again as first wife, Atasha confronts the two.
“Mary, you know that it is the wives that have the exclusive right to allow another female access to our husband. What is the motive behind your cozying up to our husband?”
Mary says, “I find that I have feelings for him. He is strong but a gentle man. I feel safe around him. There is one thing more, I feel love after more years than I can remember. Can I please ask to be allowed to be a wife of his?”
“Do you accept that you will be the sixth wife and subservient to the other wives?”
“Yes I accept.”
“Samuel, what do you feel about Mary?”
He now realizes that he is in battle and it is now six to one. He has been played. Not that he minds. He figured that this would happen. A single woman in a house full of married women.
George now has two wives but all could see that there was no interest. Samuel knew that she would eventually be presented as a wife but he did not see it happening this way. He thought to himself, Bravo my wives, you executed a plan so well that I did not even suspect.
“I find Mary a very attractive woman and I feel that she will fit in to our life very well. The thing is that I will not answer until I hear from you Atasha, as representative of my wives then Peter as her relative.”
Turn it back on them. They call over everyone. Atasha calls Peter to come forward.
“Your mother has expressed to us an interest in becoming the sixth wife of Samuel. Before we answer, as his wives, as her relative, her son, what do you say.”
He looks at his mother. He has seen a change in her so he speaks to Atasha but holds his mother’s two hands as he speaks to her but to Atasha.
“Over the past weeks, I have seen my mother go from a lonely woman watching all the others have what she did not have anymore. A life’s companion is what she missed. Someone other than a son that she could talk intimately with. Someone that would accept her. You all have taught us that it really is respect for who we are on an equal battle field. I now see her quite the opposite from the way she was. She again shows life and happiness. I accept this. If this is what she wants, I am happy for her.”
Atasha now confronts Samuel. “With that permission and ours, Mary stand by Samuel. Samuel do you accept Mary as your sixth wife?”
He answers yes.
“Mary do you accept Samuel as his sixth wife and our youngest sister?”
“Yes”
“We, the wives accept this and welcome our new sister. Samuel, you now need to make a mating house. There is a need for one since we will shortly have six more matings. Then others, with the exception of those under the age fourteen.”
She is looking at the youngest get false pouty faces. She smiles then tells them that the youngest is eleven. “Only three years unless you intend on marrying Peter or Ken. Then it is seven.”
We could see at least one of the five thinking about it.
After a month, all had first wives and the basic households are formed. I must say that each is a complete group of skills but I can tell the whole of the groups will be invincible. The big question will be, since they are human, will the girls to boys born change. The new firsts have asked for potions. They want to enjoy married life before having children.
For some reason, Mary has not taken potions. We shall soon see about the ratio. She is getting moody. I can see the other wives watching her.
