Hunting game is practice

All the firsts have prospective further wives in mind. They now need to find out just who really fits rather than an emotional fit alone. Everyone’s style needs to gel. It is Chris that sets the standard. He has the intuition needed to find out who will be the best fit.

He and Marsha are going on a full days hunt. This compound needs to have fresh game. They have an abundance of smoked, salted and dried but there is nothing like fresh. They let Samuel know what they are doing but there is a need of storing fresh kill.

Samuel is asked if he can make a cold storage box, a freezer of sorts. He knows what Chris is talking about from his experience in other worlds. He makes a large walk in freezer box.

For the first hunt, they will ask one of the prospectives come with them. The two are doing something slightly different. Since this technically is not the mating ritual, they have talked about the choice to go with them. Both have watched and fought most of the ones they want in their family.

What shocks everyone is the fact that they choose Faun, daughter of Tasha. She is twelve, a healer in training, but most of all she has displayed her mothers instincts. Faun, herself, is surprised to be picked. She has never gone on a hunt.

Marsha has taken mother Tasha aside and informed her that they will take a deer down if they see one. They would like her to be there when they sit with Faun. The reason for that is, even though they are not deer, they are faunfolk. They resemble a deer when shifted.

Chris explains to her, “The reason we would like you to come with us is so we do not kill one of the faunfolk. Your role in this hunt is to observe but you need to first and foremost tell us when you sense a changeling as opposed to just an animal.”

Faun straightens up, puffs out her chest and proudly proclaims that she is going to make sure that we do not make a mistake. She does tell Chris that she loves her mother’s venison stew. “Mom, if we get one, will you make stew?”

She is promised that they will have some.

Tasha is holding back the motherly urge. Samuel sees it and he decides to take the hit.

“You two make sure that you keep her safe.”

The look he gets from Marsha is a killer look. “She will be tested just like all the rest we take on a hunt. Remember what you told us. Do you want us to come home and tell some mother that her daughter was killed because we went too easy. Of course we will bring my sister home. May be some bruises but she is a healer.”

They leave for the forest. Looking for signs, tracks, broken branches and such. They really want something big. Only after an hour, a feral pig is spotted. The two look at Faun. Marsha tilts her head in the direction of that pig with questioning eyes.

Faun sniffs and whispers that it is an animal. She continues to look around very intently because she is picking up a totally different read on what is out there. She again whispers,

“We need to leave here. There is a few strangers out here. I don’t feel that they have found us but I do not feel good about them.”

Sure enough, there is an arrow flying and the pig goes down. This is Samuel’s land. No one is allowed to hunt here. This is for his family. There are three women calmly walking over to their kill.

Faun is vary capable of fighting but they have her hide behind a boulder with the instructions to observe. “Call out what you see that we don’t see. That is what your mother does best. Make mama Tasha proud.”

Now the two show themselves. Chris bellows, “What the hell are you doing. This is my father Samuel’s land. You are poaching. Throw down your weapons and face the owner.”

Faun yells that they are reaching for their weapons. The battle is on. You can tell that the three think that it is an easy fight. After all they are still children. Kill the females and take the boy.

They charge yelling as to intimidate. They do not know what they are getting into. With an instinct born of that training. The three soon find that they are in a real battle. Faun yells what she sees then produces daggers.

With the speed of a young deer, she sprints and hamstrings the one that is doubling Marsha them does the same to the one fighting Chris. Seeing that two of her comrades are down, the last tries to run but Marsha’s hands produce claws and rakes the woman’s back deeply from neck to butt. That one fell down passed out in pain.

“Faun, you did wonderful. Your mother will be so proud of you but not as proud as we are. Now we need you to runback home and bring people back here.”

Marsha tells her that she will be asking her a question when this is done. Faun knows exactly what she is going to be asked. She changes into her humanoid form and runs.

We do not care that they are in pain. We have the standard rope for tying up a kill. That is now what the three are tied up with. When the entire family arrives in less than that hour, Samuel is just trying not to smile but is losing.

The three are transported to the home while Peter and Ken, gut the pig. They carry it back to our home. The four men with their mates are on the perimeter as guarding just in case.

At the home, while the pig is hung up to drain, Samuel now lets his owner side come out.

“You not only poached on my land but you tried to kill family. I do have the right, as owner, to kill you right now. Who is your family? You will not be healed until you tell me.”

They are silent but this side of Samuel is shown. He steps on the cut calf of one of them and grinds. The woman screams in agony. One of the other two screams that she will tell. “Please stop torturing my sister. We are of the Ugliano clan.”

Samuel holds up his hand and congers up a tattle bird. They are the voice mail system on this world. He speaks to it. “Your women were poaching on my land and attacked my family. I demand that you come here. If you do not show within two hours, I reserve my right, as this land owner, to enslave them then sell them or just kill them for trying to kill my family. Come for war and these will be the first to be killed.”

The bird flies off.

It must be said again and again. Samuel is the most powerful wizard on this world. Atasha is the second. His reputation for defending his home is well known. All his daughters and mothers are lethal. What the world does not know is that now there seven sons in law and George have learned to fight along with the others.

Let’s just say, you do not fuck with them. That is not the case with the Ugliano clan. They are here in full force and full armored.

The head of that clan demands that we release the three. “We demand reparations and that will be in the form of the ones that hurt our women.” Now he is posturing.

“I know you.” Samuel says. “You are one of the only two others that I brought here a few years ago. You did not want to play by the rules so you snuck out in the middle of the night with the other one.”

Samuel is scanning the surroundings with his mind. He finds some others creeping up behind trying to ambush. He looks to Atasha, then with one hand up, he spreads all five fingers and points behind him. She looks to Judith. “Take your choice but the five do not live.”

A bear runs off with Shela and Ruth. Screams are heard from the hill. The three return bloody. The blood is from the dead bodies They each drag one of the five but Judith is still in her bear form and is dragging the other human leader.

Samuel now laughs. “It seems that you are my last mistake that needs to be taken care of.”

He addresses his family. “Now is the time to show this world that you don’t fuck with us. Mary, Bridget, protect the ones under fourteen.”

With that said, war was on. No one of his family was looking at anyone with the exception of their opponent. Like the three females, these were not really trained. They fought but relied on the fact that our men would not harm females. How wrong could they be.

All that could be said is that it was a lopsided battle. Samuel took out the leader. He knew that this was what he needed to do. He had to clean up his mistake. The new additions were not looking at females. They only saw warriors that want to kill them. There is no hesitation. They killed.

It was over in a matter of minutes. The last few threw down their weapons and surrendered. Those are tied up. Now Tasha goes and heals the first three and the four that are left. All remain tied.

Samuel sends a tattler bird to the town asking the chief and three witnesses to come here. The bodies are left where they fell with the exception of the three that were dragged back here by Judith and the other two.

The delegation from town arrives but there are more than three. It seems that almost all the town are here. We go over what happened. The poaching confrontation, the attack and the major confrontation.

Samuel is the one to make the report. “The two leaders were those two that I brought here but ran off during the first night. I had an obligation to this world to clean up my mess.”

The chief told us that this was not the first incident of not respecting land. “We have had others poached, others robbed, others killed. We had not been able to prove factually that it was them. You actually did us a favor by fighting them. Now as of the seven prisoners, what do you want done with them?”

I tell her that I do not want them anywhere around us. “We may suddenly die in our sleep. I will dispose of all the bodies of the dead. Chief do what you want to the seven.”

She takes possession of all seven and marches them off.

I go to dispose of the bodies. I just disintegrate them including the extra seven I found.

We all sit and now I am busting my buttons but not as much as Tasha. We are given the exact account of the poaching. How Faun called out what she saw but how she rushed in and did the hamstring on the two.

Marsha said, “You should have seen her. She was almost like a low flying hawk swooping at ground level. Those daggers were her claws. Faun, please stand before me. Mother Tasha would you also stand by your daughter. My husband stand by your first wife and hear what I decree.”

They do.

“Faun, with what you have shown today in real battle, you defended my family without regards to yourself. You have shown that you are a full warrior. I ask you if you would become my sister and second wife, in training, to my husband.”

Faun is actually squirming as she answers yes. She knew what she was going to be asked. It actually was her silent dream to join them.

“Mother Tasha, your daughter has accepted the offer to be second wife. What do you say?”

With the pride of seeing her daughter so well respected, “I accept her decision knowing that she will be second wife in training. Faun, you are only twelve. You will live with them but in a separate room. You are required to abstain from any effort to mate before you turn fourteen. Chris you know that I do not have to caution you.”

Now the big question. Marsha turns to Chris. “Husband, I have approved of this one to being brought into our family as second wife, with the limitations stated. What do you say?”

“If this was asked before we went on the hunt, I would have respectfully declined until she was fourteen but Faun has proven that our family cannot afford to run the risk of having her taken by another. Faun, I gladly accept you into my family. May we grow together as a family that will out shine your parents family.”

It is Faun that rushes over and hugs Chris. Everyone is cheering. I see that the three were destined to be together.

Now that Faun has been added to the Chris family, the whole sit in the now main house. It is time to review what was seen on the battlefield. I am so proud of my now very full family.

Not a single one on that field could give any observation other than the one that they fought. It was Tasha that oversaw the battle and could give the overall assessment.

“The reason that none can give a full assessment is because all were concentrating on their opponent. These men who once thought women were not to be harmed saw only warriors before them. Most of our daughters have only fought in practice sessions. Today they still fought with that same strength but made their kills. There was no need to come to another’s aid because all the opponents were so far under our skill level that it was almost too easy.

Peter and Ken were taking the lead. The four men, along with their wives were working as one unit that was plowing through what was in front of them. They acted like the horns of a bull. Two pair as the front and a pair on each side. All fighting, all killing.

Chris and Marsha showed that they are really one. They fought individuals but had each other’s back. All on that field fought well. All on that field came from the field of battle without anything more than completely blood stained clothing.”

Atasha now speaks. “Speaking of bloody clothes. Men start a fire. Get the coals ready. We are going to roast that pig and have a feast. These bloody clothes will be deodorized and then hung in the great hall as a proud display.”

She looks at Faun. “Yours also will be hung. The battle of the pig poachers was the beginning of the bigger battle. You other children that were not allowed to fight, your first bloody clothes will also be displayed when your time comes. Now Samuel, The time has come. You need to take Thomas as your apprentice. He is the one that has the most magical talent.

You like those other worlds to explore. I want to spoil those grandchildren that will be coming. We both need to look forward to the time that we step down as fighters and take the role as elders.”

They have their feast. All the clothes were framed. They now have a place of honor in the great hall. There are also empty frames with the ones that were held back because of only age. Their names are on the empty frame. All know that those frames will be displaying their first battle clothes.

Reputations have responsibilities

Now, as a result of the battle, the whole region knows for a fact that it is now not only Samuel’s talents that needed to be respected, it is the proven fact that his family is an army to be feared. They will not be beaten. They all go for the kill.

It is not surprising that Faun is held up as the best example. she, at the age of twelve, now has that nickname. She is now being called “The Hawk.” Flies with such speed and precision that none will escape her claws.

All in all, they are now seen as the ultimate authority. One by one, communities come to state just that. All are telling them that they will allow Samuel’s clan to cross their territory unimpeded. The strange thing is that most are coming with marriage proposals.

They are not marriages to his daughters but an agreement for his seven in law families.

Knowing that those will have children, they want bonds with them which makes bonds with the Samuel Clan. That is a much sought after status. Atasha has set up a prospective list of all those who have requested contracts.

“Until my grandchildren are born, no contracts will be made. We wives, now twenty eight in total, will decide who goes on the waiting list. Just because we have you on that list, it does not mean you will stay on that list. Be advised that we will be watching. Throw it in other’s faces that you are superior because of being on the list and you will have a tattle bird showing up with the news that you have been struck from the list and replaced by the one you snubbed.”

That tells them that they are to be humble, be proud, be helpful. There are responsibilities that come with the potential rewards. They are reminded that there may be boys born more frequently. Their daughters may be able to marry into the clan.

Samuel is now starting to train Thomas. It was always their thoughts on the old world that it was only a fervent wish, an impossible wish, that they would be transported to a world like this. They suffered being the outcasts but stuck to their dreams.

The four men, no longer called nerds, now know that they were born to be here. Those were not dreams but premonitions. That same dedication is being channeled into being the best. Now that fantasy of furries is no longer fantasy. They are married to those that they could only dream of.

Samuel’s daughters all love their mate. Now with all these proposals of their children, the wives of the Samuel clan have discussed the possibility of even the seven families may have other grown women petitioning to join in marriage.

Joyce is now on the lookout for her third sister. Mary is close to delivering.

That pregnancy is being closely monitored by all in this region. There are even bets going on about the chance of it being a boy. Now two to one odds. The closer to the due date, most are waiting for those odds to go up.

They are betting that it is this world that has the bias towards women not the genetics. That betting will go on until she delivers. That is only a month away which means, anytime now. The bookies say that they will be closing the bets in a week. Last chances to win.

The grumpy Mary is saying that it must be a boy because of all the pains it is causing. This simple statement is causing the sensors to go off in the women’s alarm systems. The elder wives have now taken her off to “talk.” The younger wives are there to learn by observation and helping.

She had mentioned pains. That flipped their switches. It turns out that it is false labor but Tasha has placed her on bed rest. She is now to be the center of attention. Catered to because this may be historic to this world.

The betting windows were closed on the news.

It was three weeks more until Samuel junior was born. Very healthy, very lucky to be cuddled by five other mothers and twenty sisters. The family that was at the top of the list is salivating but are being told that it will not be until at least one year.

A bigger thing is now the population is doubling down on trying to join with any male in that clan. You almost get the feeling that the wives now need to set watch on their husbands for fear of the women outside trying to rape the men.

George is not allowed to go to town with out Joyce and Bridget fully armed. The men are now like the rock stars of the old world. If there was photography here. They would have posters. As it is, local painters have a backlog, a waiting list, for women who want paintings of one or more of the men.

The women of the Samuel clan are on edge while the men now try to remind them of the battle. Ken sums it up.

“When we first got here, you chastised us about not seeing you as the warriors that you were. We had it literally beaten into us that women on this world are tough. In the battle, we killed our opponents. Trust us.”

Steven felt a need to say something. “In our old world, we saw exactly the feral nature, the bile spewed at us by females towards us. We even had them flirt just to be able to laugh at us. We, after the first time, just ignored them. We have wonderful wives that love us for us. Why would you think we would fall victim? We killed those women that attacked us. Try to forcibly take me from Corra and you will die.”

He looks at her and asks, “Do you doubt anything that I said? Then please don’t worry. I will only accept those who my wives have approved. Any others, if captured alive, will be subject to my wives judgement. That is only if I don’t kill them. ”

These two have expressed what the other men feel. The only reason George wants his two wives to walk with him is because he wants to show how lucky he is to have these two.

As if they planned it, Ken and Steven walk out. Then the remainder of the men, including Samuel and George follow them. When the women finish, they come out only to see their men sitting outside and all raise their glasses of sipping whiskey towards them.

Caution is necessary but worrying about what your mind dreams up, you find that those real problems are far less than the imaginary ones. Time to brave the lion’s den. Samuel brings up the coach.

“All of us are going to town and strut. If anything is going to happen, lets provoke a response. I do not think that it will. I think that they will want to see junior. He is the reason we will say as to why we came.”

It is not needed to be said that any attempt to kidnap him, that one or ones will cease to be among the living. Again borrowing trouble.

We show up in town and as predicted, the baby is swarmed. Nothing but dreamy eyes. It is nice to see that those worries were wasted but something unexpected happens. Families are asking to borrow husbands. This is being asked women to women.

The fact of the matter is that they have happy families but they would like to discuss that seven families in town would like to have only one wife mate with one of the males. They want to have boys but they will only be married to women from other areas. Spread the genetics.

The wives tell the women that they will need to discuss the logistics but it may be possible. The only solid stipulation is that those children will have no tie or claim to the seed donor or Samuels clan.

Those asking know that it would be the first stipulation. They expect others but they will agree to anything for the best possibility of giving birth to a son.

With their fears assuaged, they return home. It will be quite a discussion. Leave it to the four men. They have shown that they have thought a lot through in their past life.

Robert asks Samuel to conger up a slightly larger syringe but with a long larger tip instead of a needle. He does. Robert looks to his wives as he says something that makes sense.

“With this syringe, the seven of us can go into rooms in the town and fill the syringe with sperm. The women would be in other rooms. The doner syringes will be shuffled then given to the women. They insert and squirt. They do not know who and we do not know who gets the donor’s sperm. This way neither can claim that one is mine.”

Jaws are open. Here the women were working through the feeling of their husbands mating with other than their wives. Now it is just fill a tube and empty. Quite an indifferent system.

He is smothered with all the wives hugs. Samuel tells them that it is brilliant. There is no objections. Soon there are seven women that have been confirmed to be pregnant. Everyone has agreed that it is the best way.

Of course it came with a price. They will provide trade goods. Not a large amount. The trade is so neither has any debt to each other. Goods for goods, a straight up trade. The system is used a few more times but then they call an end. This way future generations are improved by diversity of genes.
