CHAPTER 29 – PLAYING GOD

Aarav's eyes were darker than ever, the weight of his decisions sinking in deeper with every passing second. Meera stood across from him, her breath shallow, heart pulsing painfully against her chest. The room was quiet, too quiet for the storm that was brewing in the air. The tension between them was suffocating—heavy, sharp, unbearable.

The betrayal had twisted everything. Everything she thought she knew about him, everything she thought was real, had dissolved into the night like mist. Now, all she had left was a man she didn’t recognize and a love that was rotting from the inside out. Aarav had always been a man of power—power over people, over situations, over emotions. But the more Meera saw of his game, the more she realized he wasn’t just playing the game. He was the game. He was the master, and she... she was just another piece in his hands.

"You think I’m your savior, don’t you?" Aarav's voice came low, almost a whisper.

It was laced with a bitter edge, as if the idea itself disgusted him.

"You think I’ve been protecting you this whole time." He stepped closer, his presence overwhelming. "But no, Meera, I haven’t been saving you... I’ve been playing God."

His words hit her like a slap. Her heart stuttered, confusion flooding her veins. She took a step back, instinctively. This wasn’t the man she had fallen for. This wasn’t the man she had bled for, the one who held her when she cried, who kissed her like she was the only thing that mattered. This was a stranger.

Aarav took another step closer, his eyes piercing into hers. He reached out, and for a moment, it felt like he was going to touch her, to comfort her. But then, his fingers brushed against the back of her neck with a gentleness that betrayed the storm inside of him. "I made you feel safe, Meera. I made you believe I was a hero," he whispered, his lips grazing her ear. "But you’ve always been my pawn. And now... I am your king."

The realization hit her harder than the bullet she’d almost died from. She was nothing more than a casualty in his world, a mere plaything for him to use as he saw fit. And yet, deep inside, there was a dangerous part of her that still burned for him. The attraction was undeniable, like a drug she couldn’t quit, no matter how toxic.

He knew it too.

He could see it in the way her chest rose and fell with every breath, the way her eyes flickered with uncertainty and longing. He’d played her like a violin— every note, every breath, every touch was a deliberate move to keep her in his grasp.

But now, things were different.

Aarav stepped away, his face unreadable. He was playing a dangerous game. He was playing with fire, with a love that was more volatile than anything he had ever encountered. He was playing God with her heart, her soul.

And in that moment, Meera felt the balance shift.

She wasn’t just a pawn anymore.

The real game had just begun.

Hours later, the city was alive outside the window, the cold night air biting at the edges of the room. Meera sat in the corner, trying to process everything that had happened—the secrets, the lies, the manipulation.

But then, she felt it.

A presence behind her. A soft whisper on her skin. "You still think you can leave?"

She didn’t have to turn around. She knew who it was.

Aarav was there, standing in the shadows, the darkness of his emotions cloaking him completely. "I never said I wanted to leave," she whispered, her voice shaking. "I just need to understand why. Why play this game? Why destroy everything we had?"

Aarav’s silence was heavy, suffocating. He finally moved toward her, his steps slow, deliberate, like a predator circling its prey.

His lips hovered just inches from her ear.

"You think I’m destroying it? Meera, I’m giving you a choice. You’ve always had a choice."

A choice.

Her mind screamed. What choice was there left?

The game was rigged from the start. It wasn’t about love. It was about power. It was about control.

He kissed her then.

A kiss that was filled with all the darkness he had kept hidden for so long. His lips weren’t soft this time—they were rough, demanding, pulling her into his world like gravity itself. It was a kiss that spoke of manipulation, of unspoken promises, of things that had never been said.

But in that kiss, Meera felt something snap.

Her resistance, her hesitation, all crumbled away. She kissed him back. Hard.

Hungry.

The two of them, caught in the undertow of something far deeper than love—something darker, more dangerous.

Aarav pulled away just enough to look into her eyes, his gaze intense. "You’re mine, Meera," he whispered, his voice a low growl. "And now that you understand that... nothing will ever be the same again."

And just like that, it was official. The game had begun.

But this time, there were no rules. No boundaries.

Only power.

And the chase for dominance.
