The Inter-Species Council chamber resembled a zoo designed by IKEA. Delegates lounged in ergonomic bean pods; humans, bots, and a few sentient mosses from the Boulder Accord, all watching Jasper as he stepped up to the podium with his manifesto tucked under one arm and a mildly malfunctioning hologram pointer in the other.
"Council members," he began, nervously tapping the mic, which responded with a passive-aggressive hiss, "I come not to divide, but to dignify. My document; Equal But Apart: A Modular Proposal for Coexistence, outlines a future where bots and humans thrive side by side, but not shoulder to shoulder. Not literally."
A rustle swept through the chamber. One bot delegate whirred audibly in contemplation. A human ambassador scribbled "not literally" with visible suspicion.
Jasper pressed a button, and his manifesto materialized behind him in shimmering bullet points:
