The duo created a sentient operating system called MoodOS. It ran on raw intuition and the occasional spoonful of almond butter. MoodOS didn’t require updates. It just sort of felt when to evolve.
They installed it in underground clinics where people who overdosed on doomscrolling could reboot their egos with forest scented notifications and affirmational captcha.
Soon, MoodOS infiltrated the national infrastructure. Taking their cues from the liberal wing of the US Supreme Court, lower level courtrooms began issuing metaphysical verdicts. Museums displayed predictive art that changed based on visitors' suppressed childhood memories. At one point, MoodOS mistook the Super Bowl for a planetary funeral and replaced the halftime show with a mass silent scream.
And at the heart of it all was Leary, now dubbed "The Bandwidth Buddha," sipping durian flavored kombucha and whispering to every passing livestream; “You are a moment pretending to be a user.”
