Annie smiled at him and went to the door, ‘Please see Jessie instead, she has something for you!’ She stopped to take a last look at him and whispered quietly, ‘Good buy, Stu!’ He didn’t seem to hear her at all.

The sun was shining brightly when Annie reached the broad meadow in the park. She went to the middle of it so that she could be directly under the sun rays. Then she turned her head straight to the sun and held out her arms. There, in the dazzling light she was thinking of how often things went bad, just because you wanted to make them good and just when they were good it appeared to be too late. However, she would exchange this experience for nothing in the universe. Too bad that you couldn't communicate whims to the Boss. She was feeling her body light and airy. Then she thought for a moment that her legs were lifting from the ground. It was in fact a very nice feeling similar to the feeling of flying. She’d just started to enjoy it, when she was startled by a cry, ‘Annie, NO!’ Stu was running towards her from the far end of the meadow. Jessie was right after him. ‘Don’t go!’ he shouted although he wasn’t sure if he was not too late. Annie was still there covered by the sun-rays with her arms reaching out, but Stu’s horror was indescribable to see her… transparent. He tried to reach her and to hold her but the light, which was already blinding now, wouldn't let him even come close to her. There was a strange vibration around Annie that shielded her from him.

‘Please stay!’ He desperately begged. Two steps aside stood Jessie not daring to make a move and crying, ‘Annie, I will miss you! Can’t you just stay, please?’

Annie couldn't do more than just smile one last smile looking at them but as if from the effort she turned even more transparent. Stu began to fight the vibrations covering her and Jessie joined in. The closer they came the harder they got bounced off, ‘Stars can’t just come and go like that!’ Stu was yelling, ‘You can’t leave like that… Because… Because I love you!’

A blinding light struck the place where Annie was dematerializing. She disappeared completely. The light threw Jessie and Stu off and vanished as abruptly as it had come. The sun was shining just like any other day and the sky was blue. Stu gazed at the place where Annie had been only moments ago and shouted in despair, ‘I’ll never write another song, I promise!’

One second, a minute, an eternity.

Someone sneezed.
