‘Bob, cut it out!’ John interfered.
‘You didn’t even take a look at it!’ replied Stu waving a piece of paper under Bob’s nose. Bob took it angrily, ‘I've told you a hundred times I hate it when someone writes my parts. I've told you that a hundred times!’ We're working our buts off here and we are still getting nowhere. We still haven’t made a contract if I’m not mistaken?’
Stu bristled up, ‘We don’t have a contract because we are no good. And we aren't good because we don’t work hard enough. And we don’t work hard enough because some of us…’
‘Stu, stop it!’ John cut him short.
‘Give me that,’ Stu yelled to Bob and took the paper out of his hands. ‘I’ll play the guitar part, too. You can count on me’
Now it was Chris’s turn to get angry, ‘Yeah, and Shakespeare will be taking the piano then.’
‘In the studio I’ll play his guitar part, too,’ fumed Stu.
‘We’ll never get into a studio,’ jeered Bob.
‘Yes, we will,’ Stu retorted.
‘When this happens, just call me if you will,’ answered back Bob, taking his guitar and heading for the door. At this time someone knocked. The boys got all quiet and through the silence, Annie entered.
‘What is it now?’ Stu turned to her, still angered.
‘It is after 6 o’clock now.’
He approached her and lowered his voice, ‘I can’t right now.’
‘Hey, Stu, is this your new girlfriend?’ Chris hollered behind him.
John laughed but Stu didn’t pay attention. He whispered to Annie, ‘I can’t talk with you right now. You'd better go!’
‘But I must talk to you. It is important,’ she insisted.
‘Oh, God! OK!’ He turned to the rest, ‘Just one minute, guys!’
Bob, still standing by the door proclaimed, ‘I’m outta here!’
‘Bob, wait!’ Annie surprised him addressing him by his name.
‘Do we know each other?’ Bob asked but Annie had fixed her gaze on Stu. ‘What is it?’ he asked.
‘You’ve got a job.’
‘A job?’ The four of them exclaimed simultaneously.
‘Yes, in Louie’s bar.’
‘Louie? Who’s Louie?’ Chris was clearly at a loss about what was going on.
‘In the Blue Bar,’ answered Annie. Stu was incredulous, ‘How do you know that?’
‘I work there. Louie takes you to play there.’
