TEACHINGS REFLECTED IN GOD'S WORD ABOUT MARY
- FULL OF GRACE
What is Grace?
Grace is God's unmerited favor.

God's grace is a virtue by which God can give something without anything in return, since to attain it man can do nothing for himself. God's grace comes through faith and acceptance of the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity.
God's Grace in the Bible is used to describe one of God's main attributes (1 Peter 5:10 "But the God of all grace, who called us to his eternal glory in Jesus Christ, after you have suffered a little while, may he himself perfect, establish, strengthen, and establish you.").
This Word is used to indicate God's free or unmerited favor toward man: Romans 3:24-26
"For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation through faith in his blood, to manifest his righteousness, because he had passed over the sins of the past in his forbearance, with a view to manifesting his righteousness at this time, so that he may be the just one, and the one who justifies him who is of the faith of Jesus." |
Therefore Grace is...
- Benefit, blessing (John 1:16)
- Mercies (Acts 13:34)
- Being Accepted in Christ (Ephesians 1:6)
- The sheer goodness of God who loves the sinner.
- God's undeserved love.
- To be the object of his generosity and divine favor, that is, that favor of God to be able to approach with confidence to seek Him directly. (Hebrews 4:16)
The Hebrew expression that is commonly translated for grace is hen or hesed.

- THE CONCEPTION OF JESUS IN MARY'S WOMB WAS A COMPLETE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Without human intervention, and even Mary herself asked about this:

"Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be?' for I do not know a man. The angel answered and said to him, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the Holy Being who will be born will be called the Son of God." |
- MARY DECLARES HERSELF TO BE A SERVANT OF GOD.

- MARY VISITS ELISABETH. (Or Isabel in some translations).

39 In those days Mary arose and hurried to the mountain, to a city of Judah. 40 And he went into Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And it came to pass, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 And she cried out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. 43 Why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For as soon as the voice of your greeting reached my ears, the babe leaped for joy in my womb. 45 And blessed is she who believed, for what was spoken to her from the Lord will be fulfilled. 46 Then Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord; 47 And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. 48 For he has looked upon the lowliness of his handmaid; For behold, from now on all generations will say blessed to me 49 For the Mighty One has done great things for me; Holy is his name, 50 And his mercy endures from generation to generation To those who fear him. 51 He did mighty deeds with his arm; He scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. 52 He removed the mighty from their thrones, And he exalted the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And he sent the rich empty. 54 His servant helped Israel, Remembering Mercy 55 Of which he spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his descendants forever. m 56 And Mary stayed with her about three months; then he went home. |
In this portion Mary's visit to her relative Elizabeth is described, remember that at this time Mary had already been visited by the angel and had already conceived of the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth states that from the moment she heard Mary's greeting, her baby leaped in her womb and she was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:41 "When Elizabeth heard the greeting, the child leaped for joy within her.")
Let us remember that, by this time, Mary had already been filled with the Holy Spirit and assaulted by the power of the Most High as the angel declared to her so that she would conceive Jesus in her womb, so she filled with the Holy Spirit went and visited her cousin/relative Elizabeth, she also received that greeting and was filled with the Spirit. That is why the angel stated in Luke 1:35, "The angel answered and said to him, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore also the Holy Being who will be born will be called the Son of God." Here he is explaining to us that the conception of Our Lord Jesus Christ was a pure act of the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary, that is why he speaks "The Holy Being who will be born" explaining that the creative act, the act of formation of Jesus Christ in the womb of Mary was the complete work of the Holy Spirit, we have to keep that in mind so that we understand how the process of the plan of salvation that God devised was. That is why she speaks of the Holy Being, that is, Free from corruption, Free from sin not like us who are sinful beings, it was not because Mary was free from sin but because she was the work of the Holy Spirit, that is why the Holy Being is speaking and that the power of the Most High was going to cover her and she was in that condition when she visited her cousin Elizabeth and she herself also received the filling of the Holy Spirit.
FILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:
In dealing with this matter it is most important that we remember that the Holy Spirit is a Person, the third Person of the Trinity who comes to dwell in the life of every believer from the very moment of conversion. The apostle Paul says in Romans 8:9 that "if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not of Him." The Holy Spirit dwells in all Christians, and He does not come to us in part, but as a whole Person. When a person comes to visit our house, he does not come in pieces. Either it is or it is not. And with the Spirit it is exactly the same. It's not that when we are converted we are given a little of the Spirit, and then, if we meet certain conditions, we are given more and more, until finally we are filled, no. Some people have the Holy Spirit (all Christians) and others don't (non-Christians). In John 14:16-18 the Lord says, "And I will pray the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him or know him; but you know him, because he dwells with you, and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." Although Christ ascended into heaven, His disciples have not been orphaned, for the Holy Spirit has come to dwell in their hearts. All that Christ was to believers while He was on earth, the Spirit is now to all Christians. And there is no condition to meet for the Spirit to come to dwell in us, except to believe in Christ. All who believe enjoy that blessing (John 7:37-39)All who believe already have the Spirit. However, it is a group of believers that Paul exhorts in Ephesians 5:18 to be filled with the Spirit. The Spirit dwells in every Christian, but not all Christians are filled with the Spirit. To be filled with the Spirit, then, is nothing other than to be controlled by the Spirit who dwells in us. Notice the contrast in Ephesians 5:18: "Do not be drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit." What happens to a person when they get drunk is that they have drunk so much alcohol that their influence overpowers them. That man is under the influence of drink. Just as drinking affects the mind, the heart affects the will, so we must be affected by the Spirit in our mind, in our heart, and in our will. That's the similarity between drunkenness and the filling of the Holy Spirit. |
After Elizabeth/Elizabeth was filled with the Spirit she declared in Luke 1:45, "And blessed is she who believes, for the things spoken to her from the Lord will be fulfilled."
Mary, too, filled with the Spirit, declares:

Both Mary and Elizabeth were filled with the Holy Spirit, as the angel reported to Zechariah in Luke 1:14-15 and the angel to Mary in Luke 1:35.

- MARY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE PLAN OF SALVATION, AS A SERVANT AND INSTRUMENT OF GOD.
Mary was chosen as a servant of God to fulfill a purpose within the plan of salvation, she would be the tool that God used, so that many prophecies would be fulfilled, one of these is that she being a descendant of David (like Joseph Luke 3:23-27), so that the Davidic covenant would be fulfilled that the throne of David would remain forever, and that is fulfilled in Jesus. (2 Samuel 7)
a) The climax of God's promise was that from the lineage of the Davidic family would come a descendant who would be the Messianic and eternal king, Sovereign over the faithful of Israel and all the nations (Isaiah 9:6-7; 11:1, 10; Micah 5:2,4). He would leave the city of Bethlehem and his rule would extend to the ends of the earth (Zechariah 6:12-13; 9:10). He would be called "the Lord, our righteousness" (Jeremiah 23:5-6) and would bring salvation from sin (Zechariah 12:8; 13:1). The fulfillment of the Davidic promise began with the birth of Jesus Christ, which was announced by the angel Gabriel to Mary, a devoted daughter of David's family (Luke 1:30-33; Acts 2:29-35; 13:2).
b) That promise was an extension of the covenant given in Genesis 3:15 that foretold Satan's defeat through a descendant of Eve, who went through the line of Seth, Noah, Abraham... it was an extension of the covenant given to Abraham and his descendants.

c) The fulfillment of this promise involved Christ's resurrection from the dead and His exaltation to the right hand of God in heaven (Acts 2:29-33), from where He now rules as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Christ's first task as exalted Lord was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon His people (Acts 1:8; 2:4, 33).
d) Christ's kingly rule is characterized by a call to all to turn from sin and the wicked world, to accept Christ as Lord and Savior and to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:32-40).
e) Christ's eternal kingdom includes:
• His present sovereignty over the Kingdom of God.
• His direction over the Church. (Matthew 28:18-20)
• His future millennial rule over the nations (Revelation 2:26-27; 20:4)
• His eternal kingdom in the new heaven and the new earth (Revelation 21-22)
THE WORD TELLS US THAT the Messiah would be born of woman.

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There shall be no limit to the increase of his dominion and peace upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom, and he shall establish it in judgment and righteousness from henceforth and forever. Jehovah's zeal of armies will do this. |
Matthew 1:18-23 |
18 The birth of Jesus Christ was like this: When Mary his mother was betrothed to Joseph, before they were together, it was found that she had conceived of the Holy Spirit. 19 Joseph her husband, because he was righteous and did not want to make her famous, wanted to leave her secretly. 20 And as he was thinking about this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, and said to him, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she shall bear a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 All this came to pass that what the Lord had spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled, when he said, 23 Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, And you shall call his name Immanuel, which translated is: God with us. |

4 And Joseph went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because it was of the house and family of David. 5 That he might be registered with Mary his wife, who was betrothed to him, and she was with child. 6 And it came to pass, while they were there, that the days of their birth were fulfilled. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, for there was no room for them in the inn. |
- MARY HAD A NORMAL MARRIAGE WITH HER HUSBAND JOSEPH AFTER SHE GAVE BIRTH TO JESUS.
Matthew 1:25 |
But he did not know her until she gave birth to his firstborn son; and he named him JESUS. |
Luke 2:7 |
"And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, for there was no room for them in the inn." |
The word "until" calls attention to the fact that, after the birth of Christ, Joseph and Mary partook of the full physical union commonly associated with marriage. The word "Know" in the Bible refers to having sexual relations, of course, depending on the context, the word "it came" is also used in reference to sexual relations.
God's Word shows us some examples:
