Finn, steward of ritual ambiguity, wearing a monocle that doubles as a pun decoder.
The Last Laugh, unseen but felt, his presence hums beneath the floorboards.
Guests, including rogue jesters, exiled satirists, and one mime who communicates only in knock-knock cadence.
Susie, raising a goblet of carbonated irony: "Welcome, witnesses of the wheeze. Tonight, we dine not on food, but on forbidden frequencies. Each of you has brought a joke once deemed too volatile for polite society. Let the ritual begin."
Finn, gesturing to the Joke Altar: "Place your offerings here. The Codex will absorb them. But beware; if your joke lacks resonance, it will be reclassified as a bureaucratic memo."
A jester steps forward, trembling with anticipation.
Jester: "Why did the existential chicken cross the road?" Pause. "To confront the void and render it absurd."
The crowd gasps. A chandelier snorts. The Codex glows faintly.
Susie: "Accepted. The void has been tickled."
A mime approaches, tapping twice on the floor. A knock-knock joke unfolds through gesture.
