Mayor Obsidian and the City of Contraplex
In the sprawling metropolis of Contraplex; a city so divided it has twelve mayors, each governing a different emotional quadrant, Mayor Obsidian rules the District of Dissonance, where logic and loyalty are permanently at war.
Obsidian, a charismatic former jazz philosopher turned politician, was elected by a coalition known as the Coalition of Unrepentant Hustlers (CUH), a group that believes laws are merely colonial poetry disguised as policy. CUH’s platform? “No cops, no clocks, no apologies.”
Obsidian’s campaign slogan; “Let the Streets Speak,” was broadcast exclusively via encrypted graffiti and interpretive dance. His inauguration involved a ceremonial burning of parking tickets and a freestyle rap battle against the city comptroller.
Law enforcement in Contraplex is optional. Officers are required to wear invisibility cloaks and only intervene if summoned by a sacred kazoo. Obsidian, however, banned kazoo summoning in his district, citing the possibility of someone being offended by what they considered to be discordant “vibes.”
