Chapter 9

I Show Xeyamia The Rocket

On a Wednesday afternoon, I introduced Xeyamia to the rocket I had built.

After school that day, I took her to the garage.

Since I typically accompany her home after school, it was easy for me to take her there.

Once we got off the bus, I mentioned that I had something special for her to see. “Xeyamia?” I called out. “Yes?” She replied.

“Are you going to be busy at your house?” I asked her.

“Not really,” she answered. “Why?” She asked. “Okay.” I spoke. “But why?” She pressed again. “It's just something I wanted to show you,” I explained.

“Really? What is it?” She asked. “I can't tell you right now.”

“To see it, I would need to show you,” I responded.

“I have no problem with you showing me,” she said with a smile.

“You sure about that?” I questioned. “What?” She replied. “Are you sure?” I asked once more. “Yes! I am sure!” She confirmed. “Alright, let's go this way.”

“Please follow me!” I instructed.

We took a detour towards the garage. “What will your family say if you get home late?”

“Especially your parents?” I asked. “They won't say anything, but it depends on what time I come home,” she replied. “Okay, I understand.” I acknowledged it.

As we walked, we admired the beautiful surroundings, the lovely Urban beach with people swimming, and the City’s charm. “I like pretty women.”

“I think you are very pretty,” I complimented her as we strolled. “Oh, really? Thank you?” She responded and laughed.

“You are welcome!” I also responded. “Okay, fine.” She spoke. “No, seriously. I like pretty women, especially black women, and you are one of them!” I reiterated.

“Wow! Thank you!”

“Your words are so kind!” She replied. To reach the garage, we had to pass the beach, cross a bridge, and descend on a ladder that led us to the garage, which was somewhat secluded near a part of the beach.

Of course, to reach the garage, we needed to pass by the beach, cross a bridge, and descend a ladder that took us to the garage, which was almost completely separated from the beach.

“Wow, this place is amazing!” She remarked.

“I've never been here before,” she added. “Oh, are you serious?” I replied. “Yes!” She confirmed. “What about the beach?” I asked her. “You've never been to the beach either?” I asked again.

“Oh, my family and I visit the beach frequently,” she responded. “Okay!”

“But why do you say you've never been here?” I asked.

“No, I meant this area,” she clarified. “And what is that enormous old structure?” She questioned me as we neared the old broken garage.

“It's not a structure; it's an abandoned garage!” I explained. “Come with me.”

“Let's go inside,” I suggested. “Okay?” She agreed.

We quickly reached the garage, entered, and I guided her to where the rocket stood upright, covered by a large sheet. “Are you ready to see what I want to show you?” I asked.

“Really?”

“Yes, I'm so ready!” She replied. “Alright?” I said, as I untied the rope, securing the sheet that concealed the rocket and pulled it away, unveiling the rocket. “Ta-da!”

“It's here!”

This is it!” I announced.

“What do you think? Do you like it?” I asked again.

She was so astonished that she covered her mouth with her hand.

“Oh my God! A rocket!”

“This is a rocket, right?” She responded. “Yes, it's a rocket!”

“What do you think of it?” I asked. “Wow, this is so cool! Did you build it?” She asked me.

“Yes, I did!” I answered. “Hey there, buddy!”

“Allow me to give you a high five.”

“You truly deserve it!” She remarked.

Following that, she offered me a high five.

“Incredible! You are exceptionally talented!” She said once more.

“Thank you!”

“As you know, I am pursuing Architecture, a field I am very passionate about.”

“For me, this rocket stands out as one of my greatest achievements,” I replied. “This is wonderful!”

“Congratulations!” She told me. “Could you share more details about this rocket?” She suggested. “Well, the rocket is designed for a single Pilot,” I explained.

“The Pilot is indeed the Astronaut!”

“I constructed this rocket using iron and various materials, and the Pilot control area is equipped for speed and takeoff in case of emergencies or self-destruction.”

“However, the rocket is inspired by a firework that ignites like a plane engine but can be operated either remotely or by the Pilot in the control area.”

“What you are looking at is based on the idea of developing a fireworks concept, as I mentioned?” I told her. “Awesome!” She replied and laughed. “Wow, I am happy to learn new things from you!” She also told me. “Absolutely!”

“And the nose cone encompasses the Pilot area in the control room and the control system.”

“The key difference is that this rocket operates without fuel; it is electrified, illuminating beneath it similar to a firework when ignited!” I reiterated. “What about its weight?”

“Can anyone sit on it and take off?” She questioned me.

“No, I have designed it for specific size and weight parameters!” I clarified. “Only people of my size and weight can operate it to prevent complications during launch.” I explained. “You understand?” I also asked her. “Wow, this is so imaginative!”

“I had no idea you possessed all these skills!” She replied. “Do you have any plans for its launch?” She asked, demanding that I had any ideas for the launch.

“Certainly!” I replied. “What about it?”

“But when will it happen?” She pressed. “I am uncertain of the exact timing,” I admitted.

“Perhaps one day this Week,” I suggested.

Shortly after, she spent a few moments examining the rocket and surveying the garage as well.

“So, were you aware of this location?”

“What do you think this place is?” She asked.

“I am not sure who owns this place, but it appears to be an abandoned garage,” I responded.

“You might have noticed that everything inside looks old and is covered in dust,” I added.

“Yes, I did notice that!” She acknowledged. “Alright!” I concluded.

Later, late in the afternoon, I and her went to our house after we spent a couple of hours in the garage.
