This German town knows how to do Christmas.

Gengenbach, a small town in the heart of the Black Forest in

southwestern Germany, knows how to do Advent.

Whether it's gin, beauty products or just good old fashioned

chocolate, the tradition has transformed in recent years, but in

Gengenbach, it's dialed up a notch. Here, historic town hall

transforms into a giant Advent calendar for 24 days each year.

Every December, the building becomes the town’s Christmas

centerpiece.

Much like opening a door on an Advent calendar to reveal a piece

of chocolate, every night a window shade is raised to reveal a

new piece of art.

The tradition began in 1996, with the town showing off different

works of art every year and previously showcasing reproductions
