37 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE

The inside of the house was long and narrow, the first floor had one large room cut into three sections, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. There were no tables to sit at, on the floor was plush carpet and plenty of pillows and cushions and bean bags and the like to sit on. Most of them were in the kitchen making dinner while Glitterbelle felt a small bit of piece as she sipped wine from a glass in the living room.

“Do you think she can fly? She has wings.” Lenny asked his sister as he stirred a pot simmering on an electric stove powered by a gas well.

“So do penguins and they don’t fly,” Nelly said right back looking through the living room window at the other row homes across the way. “you made sure timer for the heaters are set for the right time didn’t you?”

“Yes,” Lenny said in painful sounding moan. “you didn’t answer my question, by the way.”

“No, not all of them can, go cut up some carrots.” said Eliza who took the spoon from Lenny who was stirring too fast.

“Carrots,” Lenny said acting like he’d been asked to clean the chicken coup but began slicing. “do you think she’d be weirded out if I asked her about her wings.”

“You ask about that and she’s liable to rip something of yours off.” said Sandy who was taking bread out of the oven.

“Why?” asked Lenny looking horrified.

“She’s right,” said his sister. “that would be like you asking how big her boobs are.”

As they spoke softly, Kickswitch and Glitterbelle sat in front of a faux fireplace that made crackling sounds that burning wood made and red and yellow LED lights burrowed into the plastic brown and gray wood logs to give the impression of a fire. On the walls were bookshelves filled end to end with books, though Glitterbelle was not a reader. On the mantle of the fireplace was a framed 3X5 picture of a middle age woman wearing a pink hoody and a motherly smile standing among some trees.

“That’s my sister, Mariana The Pink.”

“Did you build these homes?”
