29 AN ULTRA VIOLENT FAIRY TALE

“Oh yeah,” she said fixing her shirt. “she broke out of jail.”

Broke out of jail? Detroit knew she’d had her wings removed by The Order, he wondered if she managed to retrieve them. Before he could ask, Bernadette told him.

“She killed a bunch a guards and stole back her wings. I couldn’t believe it, I even stabbed one of the guards.” she said smiling and showing off her decayed stumps of teeth.

“Huh.”

“Yeah, I think she got pissed when I told her about Luke and Maureen.”

“You told Glitterbelle, about Luke and his new squeeze?”

“Yeah, so?”

“So she’s outta prison now and she gonna probably kill them both.” Detroit said with a head shake.

“Well Maureen’s a stuck up cunt anyway.”

With that Detroit said goodnight and went passed The Rowsdower and continued on a few more blocks until he was greeted by the golden neon lights of Crow’s Nest, that was spelled out with neon tubes on a black background of the large sign that lit up the whole block. The entrance to the speakeasy was a set of double doors wide open, the hour was early and only a few patrons mingled out front. The bouncer, a large black man carrying a battle axe nodded and let in Detroit without a cover as was customary for him.

He entered to a room with mirrored walls, a ceiling that had multi colored neon lights shining down on the spacious dance floor with more people standing around than dancing but Detroit knew it would pick up soon. There were a few women in sleek and sexy cocktail dresses and few more men that were dressed just as nice as their female counterparts, the Crow’s Nest had a strict dress code and enforced it on staff and customer alike. Even Luke, whom Detroit didn’t care for personally, dressed nice when seen strutting around the bar in the game room like his shit didn’t stink.

If Luke’s brother Eric hadn’t been such a good friend to him he doubted he would have told Luke about Glitterbelle. Even as Detroit walked into the game room he felt a slight revulsion watching Luke grab the ass of a drink girl, even though he was messing around with Maureen.
