something, other people trying to contain it, and the space between them shrinking too fast.
Morey didn’t know if he’d keep following these moments. Probably not. Maybe he’d seen enough. Maybe he hadn’t. It really didn’t matter to him at this moment. But he knew the feeling now; the way the air changes, the way the crowd moves, the way the night holds its breath right before everything shifts into reverse.
And he knew that he’d remember that pattern long after the smoke cleared. He teleported home.
