Speaking from the heart and listening to understand.
- Breathing and speaking from the heart centre to avoid being driven by ego or fear.
- Creating a safe space to share feelings openly, without shame or blame. Building trust by being vulnerable with each other.
- Cultivating authentic curiosity with open questions to explore someone else's perspective, rather than assuming how they feel or why they act the way they do.
- Addressing small concerns and hurts early, before they grow into larger issues, using 'I feel' statements to express personal experience.
- Listening with the intent to understand, not to be able to argue or prove yourself right.
- Clearly and kindly communicating your needs, limits, and capacities ('I need', 'I can', 'I cannot') as a positive act of clarity and self-care.
- Building a foundation of goodwill by expressing care and appreciation, not just concerns.
- Knowing how to apologise and forgive in order to resolve issues after a disagreement, thereby restoring safety and connection.
