OMEGA
We left for my home. I found my mother waiting for me. It was dawn again. Her always responsible daughter was being irresponsible once more. But I wasn't worried this time. I never felt so happy to be alive and that the world was blissfully unaware of its worst villain. They will never have to deal with him. Not to mention I was relieved knowing that William was free. Free in all possible ways, except from my love holding him prisoner as I was of his. In all the excitement, I had forgotten her warning about not taking my new guy serious.
"Look, Gabrielle," she said as soon as I set foot in the house. She was sort of sober again. Wearing clothes like she was going out instead of her usual house dress. She was drinking a glass of some orange liquid that I hoped it was only juice.
"I want you to stop seeing whoever that guy is." That stopped me cold.
"What?!"
"I know he is handsome, but I can see he is consuming you. You are going to fall in love with him and you are not even in your last year! This can't end well. Remember what happened with your father..." I just couldn't take it anymore.
"My real father or the friend you lied to?"
She looked at me in shock and disbelief. She turned around leaving the glass in the counter. Her hand showed for a brief second with her surprise, but then she tried to keep playing the game. Not knowing that she'd already lost. She brushed off the issue nervously.
"What are you talking about...?"
"Don't bother lying, mom," I said. "I know about him, about Osiris, about the other men. He didn't leave us. You cheated on him and kicked him out, and then you told him I wasn't his."
"Who told you that?!...Those are all lies!"
"I also know about the burned letters, the 'disability' - or should I say, 'alimony'...really, mom, stop it. I know everything." She started to rub her hands.
"I had to do it," she said. "Thomas was neglectful and inconsiderate and... terrible in bed. It was a mistake to marry him." I couldn't believe her nerve.
"Can't you accept that you did crappy thing, for once?" my rage was growing. This seemed to enrage her too.
"Who do you think you are?! You can't judge me. Getting pregnant can happen to anyone with an active sex life. This could happen to you -"
"Guess what, mom. I'm still a virgin. I think I can escape having to lie and cheat to cover my butt for the moment." I was raving mad I couldn't just shut it. She looked at me in disbelief and disappointment, but she recovered fast.
"If I had known you were going to be a judgmental prick, I wouldn't have let you be born!" she said. She was looking at me with complete disgust, her arms folded across her chest. I felt a punch in my stomach.
"You probably shouldn't have."
I went to my room, slammed the door shut, and called William. He appeared, floating in the air. I just hugged him and told him to bring the car around in fifteen minutes. I took as much of my stuff as I could. I placed everything on my Chest of Shame, dragged it downstairs and before closing the door I had my lotus flower in my flask and Izzy in her kitty cradle.
The car was in the front on time; I carried my stuff out and placed it in the car. If my mom heard me, she didn't say a word. She just stayed in her room.
"I guess she is relieved to get rid of me." I said bitterly. Who knows how many times she regretted my birth.
"Take me to Thousand Oaks," I said to William. The knot in my throat prevented me from saying anything more at that moment.
I guessed that Maggie had filled him in on the rest of my family situation. I held to his arm trying not
