Bad theology.

Two days ago, I lowered my medication.
And also, the day before that.
So, you've probably already guessed my mental state by yesterday morning.
It was not great, to say the least.
I even had my weekly coffee with my friends yesterday, but instead of actually going inside the coffee shop, I stayed parked in the parking lot for a few minutes only to turn around and go back home.
I just...couldn't.
So why, Ericka, in all your wisdom (snort), would you even think of putting yourself through something like that?
It's because sometimes I believe that if I'm really saved, I wouldn't need the meds to begin with.
I know. It's even stupider when I write it "out loud."
We all can fall prey to bad theology sometimes. It can happen when we get comfortable, forgetting to use our discernment and remember that Satan is always attempting todevour us whole.
It can happen when we're tricked into believing that if we were really "good," really "saved," our bodies and minds would beautifully reflect that.
But we have to remember this is a fallen world. We live in fallen bodies. And our brains can be the playground for every evil thought imaginable.
And the proof that we're saved doesn't have anything to do with us but everything to do with the goodness of our Savior.
I think my little conundrum proves the reasoning behind why we should remind ourselves of the Gospel daily. It's easy to become the innocent dove without remembering we're also called to bethe shrewd serpent.
So, let's focus on not just hearing the Word but doing the Word, knowing full well we have a Savior who loves and cares for us and equips us to know and defend the truth, even (and sometimes, most especially) in our weakness.
