Here is the weight

of all the world

and how I press

into it–

thumbs numb

against

the hardened

element,

birthed from

collision

and combination,

changing at a

changeable rate,

rapidly rotating

and burning

my fingers–

the lesson

of detritus–

holding onto

what I’m

not to hold

onto,

and how you

make it shine,

like glitter and gold,

nonetheless.
