The Spinning Head

One day,

She woke up

And found that her head was spinning

“I have so much to do today!”

She said to herself

“What am I supposed to do first today?”

“Do I put my socks on? That can’t be that hard!”

She proceeded to try and put her socks on

She was so tired

Her co-ordination was all wonky

She ended up

Putting her socks on her head!

“Great. Now I can’t see!”

She tore both socks off of her head,

And threw them by her feet,

On her bed

“I need to wake up and pay attention!”

She thought this,

Then she put the socks

On her feet

“Finally, they are in their proper place!”

The rest of the clothes went

As someone would expect

When she got out of her bedroom,

She drank her morning coffee

And felt great

Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to affect

Her alerted state

Through the rest of her day

She was awake,

But in her mind,

She was still asleep

As a hairdresser,

She was supposed to cut

Hair perfectly

And make it look

Perfectly visually appealing

But she was just too tired

To want to do

Any of that today!

What happened,

Was that when she was supposed to

Cut hair,

She ended up making big, big mistakes!

What happened first

Was that she accidentally

Shaved

The middle strip

Of the entire patch of hair!

It was a total disaster!

She shaved her customer bald,

And this horrified

Her customer

“I want my money back!”

“Perhaps you can learn to live with-“

“No! Give me my money back, please!”

“I’m so sorry sir. I’m just not myself today. I’m very, very tired and weary.”

“Now I’m a circus freak!”

“Yes. I’m very, very sorry, sir!”

She did the same to a few of her other customers

Who yelled at her

And screamed her name in profanity

Scared, she wanted to walk away

But knew it was her duty

To continue her job

And give them

Nice, proper haircuts

When she went home,

She felt ill

The side effects

Of a day of stress

She sat down on the couch

And wondered to herself

How her day would have gone better

And how

She could wake up tomorrow

And not be

So tired and fragile-minded

“Boy, I really, really don’t like making mistakes, especially with hair like that!”

But then,

She smiled

After she ate supper

And went to bed

With a big, content smile

An her beautiful face

Because she knew how good

It would feel

To wake up

And feel recharged

In her next morning

And then,

She would be happy

That she would be able

To finally function properly!
