The Shrimp with Barnacles
The shrimp was tasty and red,
But it was covered with barnacles
When the fishermen
Tried to eat it,
Their teeth broke and got chipped,
Trying to chew on the hard barnacles
“This is disgusting and painful!”
“Throw it back to sea!”
“Ok, boss!!”
They threw the crab
Back into the sea
Where it sunk and sunk
The next day,
They woke up on their boat,
Swaying violently in the waves
“What time is it?”
“Who knows?”
“Is it late?’
“Holy, what do you have on your face?”
One of the fishermen
Had the crab
Pinching his nose
“Get it off of me!”
The crab would not let go
“Tear it off of me!”
The fishermen
Tried and tried
But they could not
Get the crab off
The guy’s nose
Eventually,
One of the fishermen
Thought it would be a good idea
To eat
The crab himself
“I’m going to open wide!”
He bit down on the crab
And chewed
All his teeth broke and cracked,
But after he had chewed
All the thick,
Hard barnacles,
He smiled and said:
“See? No problem! I’m just fine!”
His smile
Had his eyes closed
And his mouth
Wide open
His toothless mouth
Revealed no teeth
Of which to speak
And blood dripped down his open mouth
But he was enthusiastic with pride
“You sure? You don’t look so good!”
This was the reply
Of the fisherman
Who was having his nose previously chewed on
“Ya, I’m fine. Just never going to be able to eat anything again with my teeth!”
“Ok, If you say so.”
All the other fishermen replied
In unison
A week later,
The toothless fisherman
Died on the ship
And the other fishermen
Had to throw him overboard
Into the sea
The moral of the story:
Don’t eat food
No, No
I’m not saying
Don’t eat food in general,
You goof
I’m saying
Don’t eat food
If you feel like
It’s really, really hard
And that your teeth
Are going to all break apart
From trying to chew
And digest it!
