Helping Hand

Who better to know the struggle beneath a drowning sand
Who better to help you off the edge
Who better to help you off that last step
Believe me if anybody would be able to understand I would And all it takes is help from a helping hand
At life’s last ledge with arms wide open and my soul free Put aside the pain of a life seemingly stolen from me
The treasure of a last wind gust to discover the present is a present and the difficulty to accept that To find the purpose in the belief that preserves us except that In the last precious moments have we only realized we scratched the surface The kiss of a soft breeze
How the strongest king or queen can be broken with such ease Can the unbroken withstand the storm
If only by a helping hand
In a simple outstretch of your fingers grasping expecting air…you’ll find my hand waiting there Alone on your own…so far from home is a familiar road I’ve walked so on your own you’re not alone You don’t think I’ve never stepped to the edge…put the barrel to my head Wonder on a moment of what could have been
Who better to understand the acceptance of your worst self Who better to recognize the folded hand you were dealt
Who better to sympathize with you standing on that ledge
Who better to grasp the mud through which you dredge
Believe me if anybody would be able to understand I would And all it takes is help from a helping hand
I’ve been down in that rut kicked in the…
But…always been told you’re not or ever good enough
Growing more suspicious the higher this ladder I climb up To feel buried alive under the infinity of time
Does the dog not forget the instinct of the wolf
Can evolution eliminate the ferocity since one’s birth
Just a phone call away and I continue to pray
We can work through the hurt that you feel every day
[Brad C. Robertson]
I’ve witnessed people at their worst
I’ve been surprised by folks at their best
I’ve met people who needed roles to play
And I’ve met people who just needed rest
It all feels like a blur that led to today
But if I’d missed a moment then I wouldn’t know
All the pent-up things we needed to say
All the wonderful ways people can grow
Who better to ask that you wait a bit longer
Who better to pray that you’ll grow even stronger
Who better to weep at the thought of you leaving
Who better to still be here, still believing Life can go on and become something grand
And all it takes is help from a helping hand
