Why is a raven like a writing desk

Change faces...change places

Have I gone mad with mad laughter

Why is a raven like a writing desk

Change faces...change places

Take off your hat for I’m a Mad Hatter

I want a clean cup for when I turn up

Pen is a golf club...time to tee up

A Mad Hatter platter about to serve up

The answers not an answer if the question was flawed

Both have strong walls with secrets so tall

Secrets emerge when the raven calls

I’m a pie-eyed piper popping poetic stanza cyphers

Laying pipes in guts or in Nancy Carigan struts

Collapse under scraps... GOD...done struck piping knee caps The loud OH...in the hole the further we go…WHY...well look out below Clean cup...clean cup...move down

Bodies hit the floor with the words that mow down

Harmonies rattle roofs bring the glass ceiling down

What a small world this can be with this tea in my cup

Is this what bliss is…empty is this hole...oh, what to fill in

Tea...tea of course...what was I thinking

Clean cup...clean cup...move down

Slow down on my thinking

What am I drinking that brought me to the brink in

This rabbit hole I seem to sink in...no convincing nor find any meaning In this marble that you keep dreaming...that marble your chasing...to make it understated A raven under saucer cups does patience test...pass this test Count riches in a treasure chest like dreks in the bottom of my cups Now I’ve drunk it all up...waiting for clouds to part

The key to the golden source like a win on Endor and party with force That sweet heavenly song while all along

Why it was just tea...tea of course

Why is a raven like a writing desk

Change faces...change places

Have I gone mad with mad laughter

Why is a raven like a writing desk

Change faces...change places

Take off your hat for I’m a Mad Hatter

A raven sits on my writing desk while I’m cutting checks

Money on my mind when I’m with your Alice sipping fine wine My other eye on my paparazzi live stream my journey across prime time

While lost did I reply, “Oh, which way did the fish he go...a fish...a fish”

Dear Mr. Raven…

Who you chasing…nothing, but this pen across my paper is racing No exchanges in these pages still see no changes

Hate from strangers that bring danger while I’m on my knees praying for angels Life of an outlaw how weak we seem when your times called Why am I writing about a raven when a raven is all I’m writing for A literary seed grows from my writing desk planted by a raven begins the start of a quest Young and dumb but full of heart at my desk the hardest part is the start What raven from the dark does the writing desk break

When the writing is scarce doth the raven’s words echo less Spoken in vain drives some to insanity but with me more than a habit to me The white rabbit is what it claims to be

Cry havoc from a raven from the desk that thou is staying Oh, happy raven perched on high success is the fire fueled by sighs Doth a mirror reflect more than we see

Acceptance is the enemy of this reflection I foresee

Doth a writing desk truly bare creation or Et Tu Mr. Raven So, why is a raven like a writing desk

One

By

Robby Richardson & Ellis G. Tilley

Time stands still without you by my side

That wordless plea in your eye won’t change my mind

Every second lost apart is a moment lost to time

Love asks no question but the question of love keeps me guessing I shouldn’t have to give a million reasons why

I could give a million reasons why

Like you don’t know it...like you don’t show it

The stroke of your fingers no longer grace my skin

No longer caress with your invisible sin

Like snow you fade, asleep on my palm, yet you say

You are frost you will not last, but my hunger will not pass You say you must go but you see

I drown in the air before me without thee

For each breath is a waste of our time

So now I hold mine until you do

Realize that our love is your prime

Your blossom in a gasping meadow

Soft like quiet to a doe

My heart gives a million reasons why

I would give a million reasons why

Like you don’t own it...and I hope it

Will make you want to own it and stay for a moment Pretend for a second that you’re not hesitant

To give me one more night before hearts become too distant When wishes become insistent on our dreams so different

One second...one moment...this moment...this second

Forever the tales of webs and the weaves of stories unfold So let that clock tick on by...let the world just turn on by Wave goodbye to a second devoted to this devoted goodbye of mine A million reasons for your hand to stay in this hand of mine A thousand reasons your kiss defines a piece of you denied A hundred reasons they say our love walks the finest line A reason to find to stay within this moment you wish to leave behind The hand that urns more should be the hand you reach for

Whether in sand or snow or what you stand for

For better or worse for nothing or all of this

The staycations to vacations...whether on a beach...making love on a love seat The secret we keep of a love so sweet burns in fire that holds me so deep Whatever feeling so true just as long as they’re felt with you Letting our hearts expand in exotic lands...eyes wander in Wonderland No more games no more upper hand ...the first kiss of a younger lad That’s what we had just you and me under the moonlight

So tight...hand in hand against a world that could never understand I shouldn’t have to give a million reasons why

I could give a million reasons why

Like you don’t know it...why won’t you show it

Show it to a world where we can dance

Under a sparkling waterfall and vanish in a story of tragic romance And drown in each other’s kiss like the lion and the lamb In some blissful paradox before the final hourglass of sand My heart gives a million reasons why

I would give a million reasons why

Drink the clouds that daze you with their darkness

Free you from the curdled wisdom that our love is tarnished Your lullabied language of eloquence, although in my native speech Threads into my ear like splinters from a car crash of crooked letters Can it be I am the only one…who has been living a dream

Our dream, a dream so now within reach

Why do you want to loosen the ties of heartbreak and crush us both under star light Your silver-tongued words of severance the trigger of a gun Will you stay or will you run just promise to stay until the rise of the sun I shouldn’t have to give a thousand reasons why

I could give a thousand reasons why

Memories of good times under blurred lines Times that defined a world we left behind

Too many moments…they bestow upon us a gift

The sweet snapshots of our smiles dancing along shores

Become a series of gestures like a cut for a silver screen script Our anecdotes the moon, enlightening the twilight that occurs behind closed eyes The opus of our story still to be sung ruined by

Memories that I’d sooner die then leave behind

Nights like that are hard to come by then you arrived

Our love’s got us…

Gridlocked high on the highway with you in the seat on a Friday Our love’s got us…

High on High Street are just some of the memories I keep

Our love’s got us…

Reminding me of a time of youth and dumb together as one

You arrived and you took me by a heart-stopping surprise

And when I look into your eyes, I see everything the world admires A world so crazy I’m going to lose what I love most of all One more heartbreak for a planet where heartbreak is so cruel I shouldn’t have to give a hundred reasons why

I could give a hundred reasons why

I wish you did not need a hundred reasons to hear my plea A plea that you would simply agree to endow your spirit to only me No please say it ain’t so, say that you’ll leave me here

All on my own suffocated by my truest fear

If you cannot hear me loud and clear

Perhaps my tear did not reach your ear

My dear…

No…

Please say it ain’t so...I can’t make it out there on my own I can’t face the unknown...finger to the lips a kiss postponed Wait a minute...wait a second...the clock is laughing...time keeps rushing No please say it ain’t so...when your eyes read just go...all I want is one One reason...please give me...hand on your heart a reason to stay with me One moment...this moment...just one moment...alone

Alone with you...the one

I should only have to give you one

One little incentive to let me live

One reason for you to say I am the one

But perhaps not even a million is enough
