He came to a full stop in front of the dormered two story cape.
I thanked him, and again gave him directions to Route 66 West.
He nodded and left, putting on his lights, as I opened the front door, expecting to see Winnie. I went through the rooms, but didn’t find her.
To keep Winnie and everyone else away from it I kept my roscoe in a hollowed out, little interest, reet old, political book, titled “Das Kapital,” standing stupidly and totally out of keeping with the decorative Art Nouveau bric-a-brac in the low stairway shelves in the semi-hall. It was a good place for me as I could inconspicuously access it whenever I went out, and return it to its place whenever I chose.
