The Black Knight
Detective Liam Niles, with Lady Tauna Drake Niles, Detective Trey Niles , Inspector Crouse, Pastor Connor with his wife Bren Drake, Sir Devon Drake Niles and Squire Tremen Niles, quickly going toward the castle. All stood standing outside the castle’s Fortress gate.
Liam in the forefront along side Tauna, his brother Trey next to him as they see before them, the Templar’s cloak with the red cross emblem hanging from the outer wall.
Pastor Connor, stood “Oh dear God!
Inspector Crouse, in introspect. “They’ve been invaded.
Liam, with careful thought. “Or something much worse. “
Bren, in question. “But why would a Templar leave his cloak behind on the outer wall?”
Trey gave his theory. “To marked territory of his identity. Or a sign that he has gone into hiding, leaving behind the one item that immediately identifies him. Or as a clue that he is abandoning his sacred duty for another purpose.
Liam interjected. “But for what purpose?”
Pastor Connor explained.
“Historically, a Templar was required to wear his cloak at all times, including for daily prayers, and could not simply hang it up at night. It would have been extremely unlikely to leave his cloak or sacred religious habit such as his mantle hanging on a wall. There are only few reasons for a Templar to leave behind his symbolic cloak as a warrior-monk. For a Templar to discard it would have been a significant act, with symbolic implications that would likely only occur under extraordinary
circumstances.”
Inspector Crouse giving his analytics. ”Such as a deliberate renunciation of his vows perhaps in a profound moment of despair from a tragic flaw. Leaving the monastic life release from vows entering back into the secular world?”
Sir William, interjected. “Or Such as being expelled from the order by having the habit taken away. A Templar leaving it on a wall implies a break from the Order, though not necessarily on his own terms.” If a Templar committed a serious transgression of the Rule, the justice of the chapter could condemn him to lose his habit and be dismissed from the Order. Or the possibility, leaving his mantle behind would be an involuntary act forced upon him, for example, as it was under exceptional circumstances with approval from such as the Grand Master and possibly the Pope.”
Inspector Crouse, taking a deep breath sigh. “Or perhaps, after a Templar's death. As an Order possession, the mantle would have been removed from the body of a fallen Templar to be cared for or repurposed according to the rule as a signified readiness for martyrdom.”
Liam, interjected. “Or an entrapment after his demise by using his cloak to lure inside. This could be a
forewarning. Maybe a possible ambush of some sort.” And we are about to see which one of these answers are right that will lead us into this mystery.”
Suddenly a resident of the castle comes out from the big doorway walking outside towards them with wife in hand and child in his other hand.
Tauna, taking a step forward. “Commoner Blake!”
The commoner Blake goes to her. “Lady Tauna , we are so glad to see you!”
Liam, “Where is the Templar McCalare?”
Commoner Blake divulged in hurry, “It all happened so fast. We do not know. He left. His wife and child are safe in our community. He placed his red cross cloak on the outer wall to the castle to inform everyone with warning to prepare for possible embattlement and used it to claim of his ownership of the castle.”
Inspector Crouse raised his head in acknowledgement. “Now that we have our answer.”
Liam agreed. “Right. And now we proceed to find the Templar.”
