Diane D And The Dianettes Get Interviewed On TV
It is two weeks later. Diane D and the Dianettes, which includes six young beautiful tan and dark Latin/Caribbean females with waist length hair which includes her two cousins Nancy and Charlotte, Miranda, Bernice, Lonna and Kelly, are at a TV Station sitting on stools with Diane D in the middle. Roxanne Jackson, a middle aged black female TV reporter with a very short hair cut speaks to the camera and says, “Good evening ladies and gentlemen, I'm Roxanne Jackson. Here we have the lovely Diane D
and the lovely Dianettes promoting their upcoming tour.” Roxanne Jackson turns to Diane D and the Dianettes and says, “So hello ladies. How is everything?"
"Okay," the Dianettes say.
"Good. So Diane D, I hear you and your family's organization are doing an upcoming show in England right?"
"Yes we are," Diane D says.
"That's good. Now tell us about your show. What's going to happen in your show?"
"We are going to do a dance performance routine with some male dancers."
"You're going to perform with male dancers?"
"Yes."
"That's good. I hear you're going to do some gymnastic routines in your performance too. Is that true?"
"Yes."
"How long have you all been doing gymnastics?"
"Since we were all small."
"Since you were all small?"
"Yes."
"Where did you learn gymnastics?"
"At the dance school we all went to."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"That's good. Now Diane D, I hear you're going to be doing some other routines during your show. What other routines are you planning to do during your performance?"
"We're going to do some ballet moves."
18
"Yes, and I'm also going to do a martial arts routine with a female opponent."
"Martial arts?! You're going to do a martial arts routine?!"
"Yes."
"With a female opponent?!"
"Yes."
"Wow, that's fantastic! I love martial arts! I'm a huge fan of it! So who's the female opponent going to be? One of these ladies?"
"No," Nancy says. "We don't do martial arts."
"You don't?"
"No," Charlotte says. "Just Diane does that."
"Just Diane?"
"Yeah."
"Wow I see. Diane D you've been doing martial arts for a long time since you were small, haven't you?"
"Yes," Diane D says.
"And where did you learn and practice that skill?"
"In Asia when my family's organization traveled there."
"In Asia? Really?"
"Yes."
"Who taught you martial arts?"
"The teachers and instructors in Asia."
"The teachers and instructors there? Really?"
"Yes."
"Wow, fascinating! And Asia is where you also learned meditation, right?"
"Yes."
"So you started meditating there?"
"Yes."
"Interesting! Who taught you meditation while you were in Asia?"
"The teachers and instructors there."
"The teachers and instructors again?"
"Yes."
"Wow that's fascinating too! Do you like meditating?"
"Yes I love meditating.
"Do you meditate a lot?"
"When I can."
"What do you mean 'when you can'?"
"My family don't really like for me to meditate."
"They don't?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"They just don't."
"Well how does meditation make you feel?"
"It makes me feel very good and very relaxed."
"It does?"
"Yes. I usually feel free as a bird right after I meditate."
"You do?"
19
"Yes. Meditation usually gives me a peace of mind."
"It does?"
"Yes."
"I see." Roxanne Jackson looks at the Dianettes and says, "What about the rest of you ladies? Do any of you ladies meditate?"
"No they're not into meditation."
"They're not?"
"No. They don't want to get involved with it. I try to get them involved with meditation, but they refuse to get involved with it."
"They refuse? How come?" Roxanne Jackson looks at the Dianettes and says, "How come you ladies don't get involved in meditation like Diane D does?"
"I guess we're sort of afraid of it," Miranda says.
"Afraid of it? Why?"
"We just are."
"Really?"
"Yes they are," Diane D says. "They be trying to get me to stop meditating."
"They be trying to get you to stop meditating?" Roxanne Jackson looks at the Dianettes and says, "You girls be trying to get Diane D to stop meditating?"
"Yes," the Dianettes say.
"Why do you try to get Diane D to stop meditating?"
"Because we're afraid of it like Miranda says," Lonna says.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Roxanne Jackson puzzled looks back at Diane D and says, "Well Diane D, maybe there's a reason why the Dianettes are afraid of meditation and be trying to get you to stop meditating. I hear that some people who work for your family's organization have complained to your grandparents that every time you meditate, odd things seem to happen with you or around you after you meditate."
"Odd things seem to happen with me or around me after I meditate?" Diane D asks.
"Yes, odd things that you yourself might not even be aware of."
"Odd things like what?"
"Something supernatural."
"Something supernatural?"
"Yes, like these weird state of trances I hear you be getting into then not remembering them! And having these superhuman strengths that you yourself are not even aware of! Could that be the reason why the Dianettes are afraid to get involved with meditation and be trying to get you to stop meditating because what they see happen with you?"
"No that's not the reason why they're afraid of it, because odd things do not happen with me or around me after I meditate."
"They don't?"
"Not that I know of."
"See? There you go."
"Look. People tend to exaggerate a lot of things. People seem to get information blown out of proportion. Nothing peculiar happens after I meditate. The only odd things that happen after I meditate, is when I start to feel very relaxed and very refreshed. That's the only odd thing that happens after I meditate."
20
"But feeling very relaxed and very refreshed doesn't happen on its own? It only happens after you meditate?"
"Don't get me wrong, it can happen on its own, but most of the time, meditation helps. It's like the icing on the cake for me."
"The icing on the cake for you?"
"Yeah."
"Well what do your grandparents say or do, when people who work for them complain to them about the strange occurrences that happen after you meditate?"
"They would tell me to stop meditating."
"Your grandparents would tell you to stop meditating?"
"Yes."
"How do you feel about that?"
"I feel that the employees who work for them are raining on my parade. I feel that they're trying to sabotage what I'm doing. I feel that they're trying to take something that I love and adore away from me. I don't mean any harm whenever I meditate, I'm not trying to harm anyone. I meditate for my own purpose, my own gain and my own self worth, what's wrong with that?"
"Nothing is wrong with that, but is there anywhere else you can meditate if you can't meditate at your family's organization?"
"I used to meditate at home, but my grandparents banned me from meditating there too."
"They did?"
"Yes, that's why I started meditating at the organization in the first place, until I got banned from meditating there too."
"So where can you meditate at?"
"No where. My family strictly forbid me to meditate period."
"They did?"
"Yes they did."
"How come?"
"Because people keep complaining to them about it, that's why!"
"Wow, sorry to hear about that Diane D, because I know you love meditating."
"I do."
"Are you sure you weren't hurting anyone by meditating?"
"No I wasn't hurting anyone!"
"So why would anybody complain about you meditating, if they weren't getting hurt by it?"
"I don't know why! I do not force meditation on anyone! If anybody wants to meditate with me, fine they're welcome to. If they don't, that's fine too."
"I see. Sorry your family banned you from it. Well I'm glad one good thing comes out of it. Is that you feel very relaxed and very refreshed afterwards. I'm glad that part comes out of it for your sake. Now let's change the subject. By the way, where do you live or stay at now?"
"I still live and stay with my family."
"Your grandparents, right?"
"Yes."
"Where?"
"In Westchester."
21
"Yeah."
"What part of Westchester does your family live in?"
"Northern Westchester."
"Northern Westchester?"
"Yes."
"That's where you stay?"
"Well I go back and forth between Westchester, Queens, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica."
"Westchester, Queens, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica?"
"Yeah. Sometimes I stay at my maternal grandparents' house in Westchester, sometimes I stay at my paternal grandparents' house in Queens, sometimes I stay with my great-grandparents in the Dominican Republic."
"Your great-grandparents?"
"Yes."
"In the Dominican Republic?!"
"Yeah, and sometimes I stay with my uncle David's family in Jamaica."
"Your uncle David's family in Jamaica?"
"Yeah."
"Wow, you seem to travel a lot and get around! But the Dominican Republic is where you're originally from, right?"
"Correct."
"Were you three born in the Dominican Republic, you and your two cousins right here Nancy and Charlotte? Were you three born in the Dominican Republic?"
"Yeah."
"That's nice." Roxanne Jackson looks at Miranda and Bernice and says, "What about the rest of you Dianettes? Where were you two born?"
"In Brazil?" Bernice says.
"What! You were born in Brazil?!"
"Yes."
"My goodness! I didn't know that! What about your cousin Miranda? Where were you born Miranda?"
"I was born in Brazil too," Miranda says.
"You were born in Brazil too?!"
"Yes."
"Really?! So you're Brazilians! I didn't know that! Do you two speak Brazil's native language Portuguese?"
"A little bit, but we came to America when we were very small."
"You did?"
"Yes."
"I see!" Roxanne Jackson looks at Lonna and Kelly and says, "What about you two?
Where were you two born?"
"We were born in Trinidad," Lonna says.
"You two were born in Trinidad?!"
"Yes."
"Wow! Oh my goodness! I didn't know that either! I didn't know that the rest of you Dianettes were born in other countries! I knew that Diane D and her two cousins 22
Nancy and Charlotte and the rest of their family were born in the Dominican Republic, but I didn't know that the rest of you Dianettes were born in Brazil and Trinidad! No wonder why you all look so exotic! You all are from three beautiful exotic countries!
Do you all have your citizenship papers?"
"Yeah we all have our citizenship papers," Diane D says. "We're all legal here."
"I was just teasing Diane D," Roxanne Jackson smiles. "So there are three sets of cousins amongst yourselves, right?"
"Yes."
"I see. Now Diane D, what part of this country did your family first moved to when they first came to this country?"
"They moved here to New York.
"What part of New York?"
"Washington Heights."
"Washington Heights?"
"Yeah."
"Wow, that's a big Dominican community! So that's where you all stayed when you first came to this country?"
"Yes."
"How did your family wind up moving from Washington Heights to Westchester?"
"Well after my family left Washington Heights, we moved to the lower part of Westchester several miles from the Bronx. Then when my family left the lower part of Westchester, we moved to the Northern part of Westchester and have been there since."
"Wow, that is so interesting! So which family members live in your maternal grandparents' house in Northern Westchester?"
"My two cousins here Nancy and Charlotte."
"Nancy and Charlotte live there?"
"Yes."
"Who else lives there?"
"My husband lives there with us, my parents live there."
"Your husband and your parents too?"
"Yes."
"Who else lives there?"
"My two brothers live there, my aunt and uncle and other relatives."
"Your aunt, uncle and other relatives? Wow you have so many family members living with you Diane D! That is so nice! Who does most of the housework there? I mean who does all the cooking, cleaning and everything?"
"Who does most of the housework?"
"Yes."
"Why? Does it matter? One thing I do not like, is when people ask me what goes on inside my family's household."
"You don't like it?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because first of all, it's none of anybody's business. Second of all, people don't need to know what goes on in anybody else's household. But just in case anybody out there is interested in knowing, we do have a maid and a housekeeper, and that's all 23
anybody needs to know. So let's change the subject."
"Yeah you're certainly right about that Diane D. So, I see that you all are still performing together and you all have been performing together for such a long time, right?"
"Yes," the Dianettes say.
"You all met each other in this country when you all went to dance school when you were all small, right?"
"Yes."
"How is it like working together?"
"Fun."
"We have a good time working together," Lonna says.
"You do?" Roxanne Jackson asks.
"Yes."
"That's good. How do you all get along with each other? Do you all get along well?"
"Yes we do," Miranda says.
"Really?"
"Yeah we get along very well," Bernice says.
"Seriously, how do you all really get along?"
"We get along okay! You don't believe us?"
"Well I would really like to know is, how do you all get along with Diane D?"
"What?" the Dianettes say.
"How do they all get along with me?" Diane D puzzled says. "Wait a minute, just hold up!" Diane D turns to the Dianettes and says, "I got this girls." She turns back to Roxanne Jackson and says, "Here's another thing I don't like. I really don't like when people ask individuals in a group 'how do they get along with other individuals in the group'. I really resent that question."
"You do?" Roxanne Jackson asks.
"Yes I do."
"How come?"
"Because how do you think we all get along with each other and why are you asking that question in the first place? Why are you putting us on the spot? Are you trying to dig up some dirt or something?"
"Trying to dig up some dirt? No I'm not trying to dig up any dirt Diane D. It's just a curious question."
"A curious question?"
"Yes, I didn't mean anything by it."
"Listen, our relationship of how we get along is no different from anybody else out there's relationship. We get along just fine. Of course we have our ups and downs just like everybody else, we're no different! But we still pull through and that's all you need to know."
"You're right Diane D. That's all I need to know."
"Now next question please."
"Okay. So when is your family's upcoming show in England?"
"April thirteenth."
"April thirteenth? That's good. Where will your family's organization perform next?"
"In Miranda and Bernice's home country, Brazil."
24
"Brazil?! Your family's organization is going to Brazil?! Wow, that is awesome! I would love to go to Brazil, someday! Wow! Well that's all the questions I have for you.
Thank you ladies." Roxanne Jackson turns to the camera and says, "So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, if you happen to be in England on April thirteenth or in Brazil later on in the future, come see Diane D and the Dianettes perform their show."
Roxanne Jackson turns back to Diane D and the Dianettes and says, "Thanks ladies."
