The Newcomers - Gleaming with elastic pride, they’re naive. They think they’ll be worn daily, paired perfectly, and laundered with care. They don’t yet know about the sock singularity, the moment when one of them vanishes into the void, never to return.
And somewhere, deep beneath a pile of balled-up cotton, a lone sock whispers, “They’ll learn. We all do.”
