In the dim recesses of Drawer 7B, where the scent of cedar mingled with the faint musk of foot powder, two sock factions reigned supreme; the Aristochromes - silken, patterned, and proudly paired, and the Threadbare Collective - faded, frayed, and fiercely independent.
Among the Aristochromes lived Percival Argyle III, a young sock of impeccable weave and lineage. His diamond patterns shimmered with entitlement, and his elastic was still taut with privilege. Across the drawer, nestled in the shadows of the back left corner, was Luna, a rebellious ankle sock with a faded rainbow stripe and a hole near her heel she wore like a badge of honor.
They met during a rare tumble; when the drawer was yanked open too quickly and chaos ensued. Socks spilled, mingled, collided. Percival landed atop Luna, mortified by the contact yet strangely captivated. She smelled of rebellion and dryer lint. He was everything she despised: pristine, pompous, and pre-folded.
